Mea1 一顿 @ Golden Triangle 2, Relau, Penang.

Mea1 一顿  is the latest addition to Golden Triangle 2; from the outside- the place looks like a curious cafe in shades of wood but the menu says otherwise. It is in fact a restaurant offering a modern, playful Malaysian-fusion menu, featuring Nasi Lemak with a twist, Japanese Curry and some Chinese dishes. It also churns out some freshly baked French pastries like Croissants, Madeleines, Croffins etc. Expect to spend RM30 to RM40 per pax for a meal here.

Tanuki Japanese Canteen 狸猫食堂 @ Golden Triangle 2, Bayan Lepas, Penang.

Tanuki Japanese Canteen, a neighborhood Japanese restaurant at Golden Triangle 2 has been around for quite some time but the place has drawn a lot of attention lately on social media. The place specializes in Japanese-inspired dishes like Omu Curry Rice, Udon, Gyoza and some rice dishes. The interior is simple, offering a comfortable space for family diners or those seeking for a convenient spot for a quick fix. The place is especially busy on weekends (lunch or dinner) so do plan your visit accordingly.

Harajuku Japanese Restaurant 原宿 @ Golden Triangle, Bayan Lepas, Penang.

Harajuku Japanese Restaurant 原宿 at Golden Triangle has been around for quite some time; it is a popular go-to place for those living or working in the neighborhood. The attractive part about Harajuku is its wallet-friendly prices, diners can enjoy a decent Japanese meal for a little over Rm 20; making it ideal for big family. The menu is quite extensive, featuring many familiar Japanese delights including Sushi, Sashimi, Salad, Grills and various Bento sets. A place where you get to satiate your cravings for Japanese food without putting a dent on the wallet.

Ginza Pastry Cafe @ Golden Triangle 2, Bayan Lepas, Penang.

A new place at Relau for bread lovers to explore is Ginza Pastry Cafe, one of the latest additions to Golden Triangle 2. With a Japanese name, the bakery cafe rolls out a series of Japanese-inspired buns, loaves, pastries and cakes. There are plenty of options at Ginza Pastry Cafe, not only the usual bread but some freshly steamed buns, Macarons, cakes or even sandwiches. The prices are surprisingly wallet-friendly, it's just that the seats are cramped and less-accommodating for larger groups (not very comfortable for small groups either).

Leafy Lane @ Golden Triangle 2, Relau, Penang.

Looking for a guilt-free and tummy-satisfying meal? The classic Hawaiian dish- Poke Bowl is a good choice. It's versatile, rich in flavors and can be matched with different combos. One of the latest spots in Penang for a healthy meal is Leafy Lane, a new addition to Golden Triangle 2 at Relau. The place is a little hard to spot due to its location on the 3rd floor. You can find this place on the 3rd floor of Golden Triangle 2, 2 floors up from 99 Speedmart. Leafy Lane is not a full Poke Bowl-focused entity, their "bowl" series features some specially curated combos and various intriguing versions of the Poke Bowl.

Sam Gye Bab @ Golden Triangle, Relau, Penang.

Probably the first and only Sam Gye Tang specialist in Penang, Sam Gye Bab at Golden Triangle has been around for quite a while. The place is well-received by the folks staying in the neighborhood, with plenty of take-outs and delivery orders throughout the day. The small Korean menu features their signature flame-grilled Korean Chicken and Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup as well as some Korean delights (like Toppokki, Doenjang Jigae etc). Price points are lower than most established Korean joints but don't expect top-notch dining experience here. More like a place for a quick, inexpensive and casual Korean fix in the neighborhood.

龙湘食谱 Dragon Full @ Golden Triangle 2, Relau, Penang.

Conveniently located at Golden Triangle 2,  龙湘食谱 Dragon Full has become one of the popular places for a regular quick fix for the folks staying in the neighborhood. It's common to see food delivery riders waiting eagerly outside the restaurant to complete their delivery tasks. For dine-in, the restaurant can accommodate quite a few tables; though air-conditioned, but be prepared on the poor ventilation. Menu-wise, expect to see a range of familiar Chinese Zhu Char-styled dishes... though affordably priced. Not too shabby for a quick fix but unlikely a place worthy to go all out for.

Tang Dian My Sweesert House 糖点 @ Golden Triangle 2, Bayan Lepas, Penang.

Dessert lovers would be glad to know that there's a new dessert house at Golden Triangle 2- the new kid on the block just started their business operations few weeks ago and only offers a small menu at the moment. More items will be added at later stage and for now, no main items available. There are a few signature desserts- the Rain Drop series and Mango series are equally popular... with some classic hot desserts that most Malaysians are familiar with. Tang Dian My Sweesert House 糖点 can be found on the 2nd floor of Golden Triangle 2.

Cherry Blossom Thai Restaurant @ Golden Triangle, Relau, Penang.

Ardent fans of Thai food should not be new to the name- Cherry Blossom... a famous Thai restaurant at Sungai Ara. The restaurant has recently relocated and moved into one of the shop lots at Golden Triangle... offering a whole new space to diners to dine-in (suitable for family eat-outs). Not much has changed to the menu, with most signature dishes maintained and slight revision to the prices. We were there during the soft-launch period and the wait was longer than usual... if you would prefer shorter wait, it's always wiser to call in for booking.

Golden T Cafe @ Golden Triangle, Relau, Penang.

Golden T Cafe is the latest addition to Golden Triangle at Relau, but it runs as a cafe and a bar at the same time... well at least they have made an effort to extend the business hours till late (2 am). The seating arrangement is spacious but the lighting is less-welcoming. Never-mind on the lighting, the menu is interesting with some innovative dishes; Blue Cheese Clams is one to be named. But they come with a price, most items are priced slightly above average but they commensurate with quality. More to a place with proper, heavy Western-European menu in lieu of a cafe that serves sweet treats and light bites.

Lao Mu Zi Kitchen (老母子) @ The Golden Triangle, Bayan Lepas, Penang.

A proud winner of the Penang Hawker Masters Competition in 2012, this Curry Mee specialist has gained huge attention since then. They started out at Perak Road, right next to Old Town White Coffee, subsequently to Reservoir Garden Air Itam and now, a new shop at The Golden Triangle, Relau. It may be shadowed by those flashy food eateries in the vicinity so do be extra careful when searching for this place. The menu is rather small but covers some of the best local delights such as Penang Curry Mee, Nyonya Lam Mee, Koay Teow Th'ng and Nasi Lemak; with options to have add-ons. Solid staple food that can't go out of fashion, this place is ideal for a quick, inexpensive meal sans the usual coffee shop crowd.

Bei Tou Squid Snack (北投鱿鱼) @ The Golden Triangle, Relau, Penang.

While Taiwanese food can be common and familiar to Penangites, there are still some unconventional Taiwanese delicacies that are uncommonly found in Penang. This new kid on the block- Bei Tou Squid Snack (北投鱿鱼), a brand originates from Taiwan that serves fast-casual Taiwanese food; is housed at a quiet corner of The Golden Triangle at Relau, the Taiwanese chain brought along some of the special highlights directly from Taiwan. Unlike most Taiwanese joints around, Bei Tou does not offer a big menu but a series of carefully chosen Taiwanese delights.... so the indecisive will not be overwhelmed by selections. Notable highlights are Taiwanese street-snacks like Dumplings, Scallion Pancakes, braised Tofu, thickened Soup; often ordered over Rice or Noodles. Price points are low-middle range but serving portion is relatively small.
