The Haven Harbour Cafe @ Chime Heritage, Georgetown, Penang.

The newly revamped Chime Heritage along Jalan Bawasah welcomes a spade of new tenants which comprises of cafes and restaurants. The Haven Harbour Cafe took the prominent spot, a corner lot of the premise. I would classify The Haven Harbour more of a restaurant in lieu of a cafe as it serves quite a selection of Pasta dishes and some mouth-watering home-made desserts. Prices may be a little higher as compared to other cafes, but they commensurate with higher quality ingredients. More items and dishes are to be added onto their menu soon. They may not have the perfect setting or dining atmosphere, but their attentive service and sturdy menu are worthy for your visit.

Vivo Cafe @ Kampung Baru, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

Nestled within the building of Vivo (next to Station One Bukit Mertajam), a private entertainment club at Bukit Mertajam; Vivo Cafe has just opened its doors to its customers few weeks back. The cafe is managed and owned by Who's Bryan restaurant, the first branch under Who's Bryan at Bukit Mertajam (in which there are 2 more branches at All Seasons Place Farlim and Ong Yi How Raja Uda). Similarly to its sister restaurant, Vivo Cafe serves Western food mainly, with a few oriental dishes as well as a wide selection of desserts and beverages. With its extensive menu, laid-back ambiance and charming environment, the fully air-conditioned Vivo Cafe is quite the ideal place for a weekend retreat, both for your family and friends. However, the place might not be too accommodating for larger groups, do make sure you call in for reservation should you are planning to visit in a huge gang.

Wheat Connection Bakery @ The One Terrace Plus, Bayan Baru, Penang.

Chanced upon this unpretentious and quiet little bakery at the newly emerged shop houses at The One, Bayan Lepas. Manning by Chef Nazeri, Wheat Connection Bakery has an impressive and extensive range of French Pastries, Bread, Confectioneries, Cakes to offer. Prices are reasonable and wallet-friendly, this is definitely a place to look for especially for those with a sweet tooth. Honing his culinary arts for many years, Chef Nazeri is an experienced Pastry Chef and down to earth person. I am impressed with the choices of desserts and pastries available in his bakery, some of the notable ones are Creme Brulee, Financier, Eclair, Sourdough Bread, Macaroons just to name a few. The bakery deserves a better recognition from the public. While not every single item in the bakery is as impressive as it seems, do try some of the Chef's recommendations out and I personally recommend their Panna Cotta. I would love to make a second visit for their Creme Brulee too.
