As part of The Olive Tree Group's business expansion plan, Rockafellers Straits Quay marks the opening of the 20th F&B outlet under the group. Mayura Kitchen @ China Street, Georgetown, Penang.

The exterior of this place suggests little about the place- it does not have colorful entrance like any other Indian restaurants; the newly opened Mayura Kitchen at China Street has a simple, minimalist entrance. Step in the place and you will find yourself in a sophisticatedly decorated space- with simple but tidy tables and chairs. Mayura offers an Indian-fusion menu, while it is still heavy on Indian elements, there are some non-Indian dishes like Char Hor Fun, Hokkien Char, Fish and Chips etc. As confusing as it seems, the non-Indian dishes are only available for dinners. The lunch menu only features Rice dishes with curries (Briyani, Banana Leaf etc). The place has a surprisingly cozy-clean atmosphere and the prices are unbelievably affordable, definitely worth checking out if you are up for some Indian food.

Sardaarji- Flavors of Punjab @ China Street, Georgetown, Penang.

While there is no shortage of Indian restaurants in Penang, it is quite rare to find a restaurant specializing North Indian cuisine... particularly serving authentic Punjabi dishes. It can be quite hard to differentiate what belongs to the North and what belongs to the South but Sardaarji offers a well-polished take on North Indian delights... beyond the commonly seen Indian dishes. Found at one corner of the Little India in Penang, the restaurant is fairly new (only a couple month old) in the F&B scene and it can be easily missed. Except for the banner, the exterior barely suggests that the place serves Indian food but the big menu features quite an extensive selection of dishes- from appetizers to flat breads, Briyani, and various types of Curries. While it can be overwhelming to choose from the menu, you may check with the friendly servers on their specialties (we did and were introduced with various types of dishes). Interesting take on North Indian cuisine in a modern, trendy setting.

Veggielicious Cafe @ Bishop Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Vegetarian food is not about boring mountains of leafy greens, for some uncommon Northern Indian vegetarian delights, make your way to Veggielicious Cafe at Bishop Street. The curious vegetarian cafe has been running for quite some time... the cafe menu focuses on Northern Indian food with a mix of Western vegetarian dishes. There are not much choices for Indian food (just a set of Chapati or Briyani) but the western options cover burgers and pasta dishes. Good quality of food, generous serving and affordable prices, one of the restaurants that you should put on your watch list if you are up for a vegetarian meal.

Indies Asian Fusion @ Tanjung Tokong, Penang.

The now defunct Hot Wok Nyonya Restaurant has turned into Indies Restaurant, business is brisk at the 24-hour Indian-Fusion restaurant and we are not surprised at all. Why? Ample parking space, wallet-pleasing price tags, air-conditioned dining hall, drive-through service and a wide variety of dishes to choose from; though service was a lackluster on our visit, we still see this place as a great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even light supper. Indies Asian Fusion is right next to Starbucks Drive-Thru at Tanjung Tokong.

One Malaysia Themed Buffet Dinner @ Berjaya Hotel, Penang.

Yes, Ken is following the "1 Malaysia" concept, Berjaya Hotel Penang that is located right beside Midlands. Berjaya Hotel is well known for offering one of the cheapest and most affordable buffet in town. Saturdays' theme was "1 Malaysia" which obviously promoting all the exquisite food from all three main races. The buffet is priced at Rm40++ for adults and Rm24++ for senior citizens (above 55 years old) and children. Not only as such, they are having this promotion, where by a kid can dine in for free for every two paying adults. There will be live band performances and a cup of complimentary fruit juice given to every single guest of theirs too. Frankly speaking, the choices were pretty limited. The service provided by their highly motivated staff was very impressive.

Passion of Kerala @ New World Park, Penang

My parents were out for wedding dinner so i had dinner with my gugu.....had no idea on wat should i eat for dinner so i went to new world park and take a look.....intended to shoot some photos in 'shang hai ding'--a restaurant famous of shang hai cuisine...but donno since when they wined up...=(.....so just walked around and see wats interesting there and ended up this restaurant.....they are actually serving indian cuisine (more to so called nasi kandar)......

First up first....u'll be served this kind of crackers....its so aromatic but at the same time .....quite salty as well....works well with a jar of beer XP

Then they will place a layer of banana leaf in front of u and start scooping rice.....followed by those small little vege dishes just like the pic above....this is a compulsory order thingy...its included in the rice set ( rm5.50)....and u can add on some side dish that u like =)....my orders will be as follows :

Fried bitter gourd (rm3.50)....was so crunchy and fragrant....esp the flour used....u can taste the strong flavour of the spices used in it.....conclusion for this dish :cheap and nice XD

Fried squid (rm6).....i don taste any spices in these squid...the texture of the squid was soft and the outer layer (the batter) was damn crunchy.......a very nice 1....

Vege massala (rm5)....the vege was quite fresh and crunchy...not like they stew it until the texture like shit =P.....1 of my fav dish on the table tonight

Chicken massala.....a bit salty for me...and the chicken is so hard to chew....anyway...overall its still ok....and u'll be served 3 diff kinds of curry for ur rice.....with 3 diff colours of coz...yellow , orange and red.....very interesting meal ....=D

These are the curry for ur rice (free of charge)....i felt the yellow 1 is horrible....but the red 1 is nice , spicy though....andrew might like some of the red curry XD

Massala tea (rm2.50)....his is the most special thing of the night and i felt that this is a MUST TRY in ur life....so special...its actually teh tarik but cooked with SPICES b4....so smooth and aromatic....imagine a teh tarik that full of the fragrant of spices....XD

Its quite easily spotted as the whole restaurant was in green....few slots away from the BBQ chicken restaurant....bill total up rm38.30 for 2 person....a 5% service charge will be charged...no govt tax...try it out folks...its worth of trying...=D
