Reuben's Restaurant and Bar @ Ativo Plaza, Bandar Sri Damansara, Kuala Lumpur.

A friendly neighborhood restaurant at the Bandar Sri Damansara area, Reuben's Restaurant and Bar is a fairly new restaurant (opened in mid 2023) but has garnered an appreciate following. The menu features an array of playful but carefully crafted dishes with a mix of South East Asian flavors (like Malaysian, Cambodian, Balinese etc). Dishes are reasonably priced at Reuben's, Cocktail lovers would be delighted to know that the restaurant churns out specialty drinks and Cocktails too (many are priced below Rm 30). The restaurant can be found at Ativo Plaza Bandar Sri Damansara, at the end of one corner... next to Hero Market.

Many Thanks to Reuben's Restaurant and Bar for hosting us.

[Cocktail] Whiskey Sour Naranja (Rm 32/ right) and [Mocktail] Rambutan Rose Cooler (Rm 16/ left)

We started with the appetizers, we love the Asian Prawn Pie Tee with Asian Relish... a beautiful rendition to the classic Nyonya starter. Carefully charred Prawns are added to each Pie Tee. The winning recipe (in our opinion) was the Asian Relish... with a sweet and savory Chutney-like sauce. Equally great was the Momma's Chicken Cutlets, served with selected Chutneys. The Chicken Cutlets were good on their own but even better with the Chutneys, especially the one with fresh Herbs which really boosted the flavor-combo. The Crispy Rambutan Salad did not disappoint either with a bunch of greens served with fresh Rambutan (sans the seed) and topped with a generous amount of crispy Wan Ton sheet-like crisp. Add on Rm19 to get extra top up of 5 juicy, plump Garlic Prawns.

For mains, we had the opportunity to try one of the Khmer (Cambodian) delights- the Fish Amok. The culinary team really captured the essence of this Cambodian national dish, it struck us with the strong presence of herbs. The Barramundi was fresh either and to go with the Rice, it just hit the spot. My partner in crime was a big fan of the Grilled Chicken with Mango Relish. The Grilled Chicken was expertly marinated and cooked but the real draw of the dish was the Basil Pesto sauce. We like the way they play with the herbs as well as introducing the flavor-combo differently. We ended the meal with their extremely chocolaty Chocolate Lava cake and their specialty drinks Whiskey Sour Naranja and Rambutan Rose Cooler.
