Yet another new cafe at Lebuh Melayu (Georgetown) is People Pleaser Cafe- step in the place and you will instantly feel the casual, relaxed vibe with small, round Coffee tables along the sides. Walk further in and you will find the dining area with proper tables and chairs; as well as an open kitchen with kitchen staff in action. The cafe features a Western menu- offering some house-made Pasta, Pizza, Toasts and Sandwiches etc. Price points are of restaurant-standard. We found the potential in their menu but some refinements are needed to bring it up to standard.
The Bacon and Black Truffle Carbonara was a disappointment to start with. Probably we had high hopes on the house-made Pasta but it turned out to be a clumpy, soft dough with no texture. For a moment, I thought I was having Pan Mee. The Cheese-factor was bold but we could not taste even a hint of Truffle; also, the Pasta was too dry and thick, we struggled to finish the dish. Equally bad, the Holy Trinity Pizza... a poor rendition of Margherita Pizza. The Cheese Factor was weak and the most disappointing part was the Pizza dough. The edges were super dry, almost like having biscuits. It turned super hard towards the end and we basically threw the white flag.
