Four Seasons Roasting Duck Restaurant (北苑海鲜酒家) @ Northbridge, WA.

Open as a "Yum Cha" outlet which serves Dim Sum in the morning, Four Seasons Roasting Duck Restaurant actually serves delicate and mouth-watering Roast Duck, Pork Ribs, Chicken etc on the afternoon and night time. We were not intended to visit this restaurant, we were heading to the rumored Good Fortune Roast Duck House (it's good they said) which strategically located at Chinatown of Perth- Northbridge. It was not our lucky day that the restaurant was closed (should have done some research first before I headed down to town), immediately, we searched for another alternative and we came across this restaurant, which located further down of the road (it requires a 5-minute walk). With disappointments, we went into this restaurant and to ease our hunger and craving for Roasted Duck.

Zhonghua Gourmet (中华海鲜鱼翅) @ Cititel Hotel, Penang.

I am always skeptical to try on Dim Sum at Hotels due to their prices are always on the steeper side, but coincidentally, I had the chance to visit Zhonghua Gourmet, which is one of the restaurants inside Cititel Hotel, Penang, at Penang Road (from the main entrance of Cititel Hotel, walk until the very end of Ground Floor, and you will find Zhonghua Gourmet there). Zhonghua Gourmet offers authentic and exquisite Chinese cuisines to its customers, you will find a lot of Dim Sum lovers there, especially during brunch hour (around 11am to 12pm), weekends. I had my visit at around 1pm and the restaurant was flooded with customers. Anyway, their Dim Sum were good no doubt (everything was served piping hot), but they were rather expensive too. Parking will be a bit troublesome as the parking rate is pretty expensive, try to find yourself a parking outside of the hotel. Service-wise, was pretty attentive and the ambiance was pretty good either, in short, my overall experience at Zhonghua Gourmet was rather good.

Yum Cha (饮茶) Hong Kong Dim Sum @ Lorong Selamat, Penang.

When you are finding for Dim Sum (点心) as your breakfast, do you look for other types of food as well or you just prefer Dim Sum alone ? If you are looking for some other mouth-watering food, but wish to have Dim Sum at the same time, then you would probably want to make a trip to this place to satisfy all your cravings. Located at one of the famous streets among the tourists, Lorong Selamat, Yum Cha is situated exactly opposite to the famous Char Koay Teow stall and few doors away from Prawn Mee Shop and De Title Dining Cabin. Apart from the usual Dim Sum, Yum Cha offers a wide variety of noodles as well, ranging from the commonly found Char Hor Fun, Hokkien Char to the rarely seen Steamed Fish Head Bee Hoon (Vermicelli Noodles), which my main focus of this post will be placed on this dish, Steam Fish Head Bee Hoon. Same problems exist for any other food outlets at Lorong Selamat, parking can be very troublesome, you might need to pay extra more to park at the parking space, or walk further down the street for some parking. Price-wise, was reasonable and you might want to find a seat near the entrance, else you will find it very hot.

MAMA One Ton Mee @ Lorong Susu, Penang.

If you are a fan of wanton mee, then you should pay attention to this post and this coffee shop situated in Lorong Susu (beside Sun Yet Sen memorial, Macalister Road). It was previously from Pulau Tikus's Poly Cafe and they moved it into this coffee house. Others than wanton mee, they do offer some other noodles too like fried san mee, Shanghai spicy noodles etc. Side dishes such as wanton (pork/shrimp dumplings), spring rolls and stew chicken feet are also available.

MAMA's One Ton Noodles (Rm 3 for small), the noodles were very springy and the sauce was perfectly made to go with the noodles. Char siew(barbecue pork) was decent only, a small bowl of wanton(pork dumplings) will be given if you are having the dried version.

Shanghai Noodles With Spicy Szechuan Pork Ribs (四川麻辣上海面,Rm5.50) was a pretty spicy one. The noodles used were actually more to ramen instead of the so called Shanghai noodles, the pork ribs were okay and very tender too which I believe they stewed the pork ribs for a certain period of time. The soup was abit sourish, it reminds me of a dish -- the spicy Tzechuan toufu (麻婆豆腐). Well, at least it has that kind of taste.

Fresh Prawn One Ton Noodles (鲜虾云吞面,Rm 4.50 for small). The noodles used were exactly same as the normal version of wanton mee offered, the only difference was the dumplings. There will be two dumplings given with the noodles (as shown in picture). I would definitely prefer these as I am a big fan of shrimps, so do the springy kind of texture.

Stew chicken feet (Rm 4) The chicken feet was stewed until very tender but unfortunately, they did not provide us the chili. I would personally prefer a specially made chili sauce to go with these chicken feet.

Fried Pork Dumplings (Rm 5 for 5 pieces) The dumplings were scorching hot during the time they served it to us. Extra precautions should be taken as you will accidentally burn your tongue. They dumplings were deep fried until very crispy and crunchy, as for the taste, they were abit salty for me. Also, no chili sauce was given to go with them.

MAMA One Ton Mee should be a place for your inexpensive yet delicious meal especially for such good quality wanton mee. Parking will be a bit problematic but it will definitely worth it.

Hei Yeong Seng Chinese Restaurant @ Penang Plaza

If you had passed by Burmah Road, you'd notice a newly renovated building -- Penang Plaza (formerly known as FIMA or GIANT burmah road). This restaurant is owned by the organization that owns this building itself. Hei Yeong Seng is situated on 2nd floor of penang plaza. Its a restaurant that serves authentic chinese cuisine where according the waitress, the main chef was originated from CRC penang which is one of the top chinese restaurant in penang island.

Peanuts (rm2.00) and chinese tea (rm1.00 per person) were served upon us after we've taken our order tho the peanuts are given to every table regardless you accept it or not, they will still charge you for that rm2.00, similarly to Dragon-I in Queensbay Mall.

Seafood Fried San Mee ( fried wanton mee, rm12.00 for 2 person), indeed, this was 1 of the best san mee i've ever tasted, the gravy was very smooth and tasty, everything was fresh, esp the prawns. The noodles were still crispy the time it was served. Highly recommended.
A bowl of soup will be served to every customer and most importantly, its free of charge !!! Tho its free, but the taste wasnt shabby at all.
Stir Fried Kai Lan with garlic (rm15.00) this dish was just superb, the veges were fresh, nicely cooked and the texture is just nice and crunchy. I just don like some people overcooked the veges end up they've lost the texture that vege is supposed to have.

Seng Li Fried Chicken (Victory chicken ? rm15, half bird.) The chicken skin was fried till crispy and the meat was still very tender and juicy. It works perfectly with the specially prepared salt which was fried with herbs before. I wouldnt order fried chicken normally mainly due to the texture of the chicken will be damn rough and tasteless but i adore this one. Simply amazing.
I was surprised by the standard of this chinese restaurant, i was being judgemental due to the restaurant lacks of customers the time i went in and it was too quiet. I thought the food must be expensive and nasty. But obviously i was wrong, the food was great, service provided was awesome, price was decent. Awesome. Would definitely visit this restaurant again in the near future to try on some other dishes. They do provide catering for birthday parties, wedding dinner too. Mother's day promotion is open for reservation as well. Fresh seafood are available too, they provide service exactly like CRC restaurant. Highly recommended, try it out folks !!

Maxim Dim Sum @ Pekaka Square, Penang

As promised earlier (was that like centuries ago?), another branch of this dim sum chain store in penang, situated in pekaka square, this place is loaded with ppl during weekends, so i had some of the so called more popular dim sum.....

1st thing u don wanna miss out is their egg tarts, crispy pastry and fragrant, sweet fillings(custard) are simply the best combination.
This is some kinda dim sum where the fillings are pork, wrapped with seaweeds and topped with some gravy, din tried it out coz it pork.
Steamed mussels with garlic paste, the mussels were pretty fresh, it was 1 of my fren's favourite dim sum of all time, the garlic paste can effectively remove the pungent smell of the mussels and to boost the natural sweetness in the mussels.

Crispy fried prawn dumplings, it uses Yuba(skin of toufu) to wrap the shrimp paste and deep fried them. It works best together with the mayonnaise, the shrimps were pretty fresh, i love to go this together with the mayonnaise, it kinda reduces the oilyness of the fried dumplings...

This is the steamed version of the prawn dumplings, known as 'har khau' in cantonese, some chopped water chestnut will be mixed onto the shrimp paste to increase the overall texture of the dumplings, 1 of my all time favourite in dim sum.

Steamed fishballs, i think the taste was pretty much same as others, i would prefer the fried version of fishballs compared to this tho.
This is the fried version of the fishballs, pretty much more chewy compared to the steamed version, it has a more fragrant smell too, bt of coz, it also means that it has more calories too T.T
Similarly to the previous one, this is another version of fried prawn dumplings, however, they were wrapped by using wanton skin instead of the Yuba.

Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun(prawns fillings), the texture of the rice cake(chee cheong fun) was pretty smooth, topped together with some chilli paste and soya sauce, best while served hot...The soul of the whole dish is about the numbers and the freshness of the prawns, you don wanna eat a plate of chee cheong fun with 1 or 2 shrimps , do you ?

The shop can be easily spotted once u made ur turn into pekaka, they have a wide range of dim sum too, price is pretty reasonable =D.

Max Gourmet @ Gurney Plaza

Max Gourmet is located at level 7 in Gurney Plaza (same level as GSC cinema), this restaurant is a branch of max gourmet dim sum in pekaka square (will blog about it someday =P)

Their famous eggtart(rm1.50), tastes awesome, the outer layer of this tart was damn crispy and the custard in the middle was just nice, not too sweet nor watery

Max Xiao Long Bao (rm3.50), was a failure, the taste was just not right, ntg much worth to mention
Prawn dumpling (rm3.00), the prawns were fresh and this was bring served scorching hot, highly recommended ^^

Hong Kong style Chee Cheong Fun-prawn (rm3.90), this is superb, the best chee cheong fun i ever had, their soya sauce is just too good, works well with the chee cheong fun

Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun-Yau Char Kui (rm3.90)

This is their Sze Chaun noodle in sour and spicy soup (rm5.90), comes in a big portion, taste was pretty decent, and its not spicy at all =(

Hong Kong Seafood dumpling Ramen (rm7.90), noodle was just ok but the dumpling is perfect, u can find a prawn in each dumpling, and of coz, they are pretty fresh too =D
Prices were quite economical, but there will be a 10% service charge added upon ur bill ^^
