Found in an unexpected location, Munchies Cafe is housed in a snug but cozy corner in GAMA supermarket.... right smack in Georgetown. It's hard to notice this place if you have been paying attention... it can be found at a corner of the building, towards Jalan Gurdwara, a little off from the main entrance to the supermarket. The cafe has a Malaysian-friendly menu, featuring a blend of Western dishes with local delights. Unique to Munchies Cafe would be their Umami Rice Bowl- basically rice topped with various toppings and occasionally, it rolls out special of the day. The weight-watchers would be glad to know that this place offers healthy Sandwiches and home-made Yogurt.

Home Cafe @ Tanjung Bungah, Penang.
Sharing the same space as Sunflower Bakery at Tanjung Bungah (a Layer Cake specialist if you don't already know), Home Cafe occupies a corner of the compound (while the seating area is at the other side of the compound)... offering a small Western menu. On the side, there is a grab and go window for the time-starved customers as well. The al-fresco seating area is a cozy spot for you to have a sip on the drinks while enjoying the soothing sea breeze blowing from behind (the beach is just walking distance away). Also note-worthy is the kitchen opening hours... certain mains are only available until 2 pm. We were slightly late the other day but we did enjoy the open-air seating corner (not too much on the food if you must know).

Llao Llao Frozen Yogurt @ Gurney Plaza, Penang.
Indulge in the extravagant frozen treat without being too worried of the calories, Frozen Yogurt is a good replacement to the usual full-creamed Soft Serve (few calories than the conventional Ice Cream). Llao Llao is a European brand that has taken Singapore and Kuala Lumpur by storm. The chilled sweet treat is well-received by the younger generations, the specialties of Llao Llao Frozen Yogurt would be their premium-sumptuous add-ons. The condiments available vary from Biscuits, Nuts to fresh Fruits. There are different packages available- budget watchers may opt to go for the simple ones (without much add-on) while those with deeper pockets can go for Parfait. Llao Llao Froyo is available at Lower Ground Floor of Gurney Plaza, right next to Boost Fruit Juice.

Farm House Cafe @ Air Hitam, Penang.
A stone's throw distance away from one of the famous tourist spots in Penang- Kek Lok Si, Farm House Cafe boasts the regal hominess of a rustic space. Housed in an old, rustic wooden house; the owners adopted the countryside interior decor style with simple tablecloth. The presentation of the food somehow suits the interior decor, resembling a leisure picnic scene, making it unusually picturesque. Dining experience was great but we thought the space was a little warm on our visit (no air conditioner), probably the best time to visit would be around 7:30 in the evening we reckon. If you are up for a plate of Pasta, you have ended up at the right place. Farm House Cafe has a deep selection of Thai-influenced Pasta dishes with an array of their home-made Yogurt in a jar. The location is a little obscure, you will need to take a few turnings before you can locate the place. Farm House Cafe is adjacent to the 7-11 convenience store nearest to Kek Lok Si at Air Hitam.

Little Nap Coffee Bar @ Time Capsule Hotel, Georgetown, Penang.
Housed in Time Capsule Hotel, the largest Capsule Hotel in Penang is one of the latest additions to the Penang cafe scene- Little Nap Coffee Bar. The cafe occupies a corner of the hotel's lobby; not entirely spacious but good enough to fit four small tables with seating capacity of 15 to 20 pax. The place was not fully launched yet on our visit, thus, we did not get to try their brunch or main menu. Little Nap Coffee Bar offers the usual-standard cafe fare at average prices. The contemporary design of the cafe may be one of the reasons for cafe hoppers to try their luck here. Time Capsule Hotel can be found at Chulia Street, a stone's throw distance away from Subway near Penang Road.

Vietnamese Classic Sandwich Cafe @ Jalan Sungai Pinang, Georgetown, Penang.
Another great place for Vietnamese street food devotees to visit will be this newly opened, unassuming and no-frills coffee house along Jalan Sungai Pinang (facing Chevrolet Showroom). It opens in the evening, an army of Vietnamese worker from the nearby factory will flock in the coffee house religiously for dinner. The place is manned by a few Vietnamese, with one staff speaks indistinctly in Mandarin. Menu is small but comprises of many uncommon Vietnamese eats at unbelievably low prices. Nothing much on the interior decor but rather, a snug place with a few tables and chairs for the Vietnamese workers to get a quick fix. One of the few places that you can find cheap and good Vietnamese eats in Penang.

DRIP Cafe @ Prangin Terrace, Georgetown, Penang.
**DRIP Cafe has since ceased its business operation.**
A new tenant at Prangin Terrace- named DRIP Cafe, an abbreviation of Diversity Re:boot Installation Project. The cafe adopts Japanese-Western influenced style, evidently seen from their small menu; featuring signature dishes like Corn Cream Pasta, Japanese Curry Rice and Mashed Potato with Cheese and Streaky Beef. These are all they have, for mains. Desserts were also introduced to us with aplomb, enthusiastically suggesting us to go for their Rare Cheese Cake and Lemon Yogurt. The place is clean and brightly lit, comfortable seating with ample space in between. On the second floor, there is a small area dedicated to live band performance, interested parties could have a look on their Facebook Page. A quiet, comfortable and pleasant cafe for you to spend your leisure afternoon or to satisfy your reading pleasure.

Lang Hoose @ Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang.
It's very easy to miss this place- drive along the bustling one-way Beach Street in the heart of Georgetown, you will find a curious and no-frills cafe on your right. It seeks to serve up more than an ordinary cup of Coffee and some less-exciting sandwiches. "Lang Hoose", which refers to"Long House" in Scottish; is a hotel cum cafe and bar. Traipse yourself up the steep flight of stairs and you will arrive at an open-space bar full of playful and eclectic tables with personal touch. The cozy setting of the bar channels a calm and restful vibe, making it an ideal spot to wind down and chill out with your friends. The cafe, on the other hand, is not a hipster place where you get to find some quirky elements to take a couple of selfies. However, it is definitely worth a look as the place offers some great dishes at very affordable prices (Carrot Cake for Rm 5 nett, seriously Alyson?).

DCOVA Cafe @ Logan Heritage, Bishop Street, Georgetown, Penang.
A stroll along Bishop Street, you will arrive at a new but curious cafe that seeks to serve a cup of good coffee and a selection of breakfast menu with a few selection of pastries/ cakes. Similarly to its precedent- Lighthouse Coffeebar, DCOVA Cafe specializes in offering coffees as well. They have an extensive range of coffees that pleases everyone. Decor is minimalist in shades of black and white, soaring ceiling adorned with mellow lights bestows a comfortable yet cozy ambiance while the seating could be more spacious to provide ample comfort; it is a very pleasant place to rest your feet and unwind. The cafe proffers all-day breakfast menu but with very limited choices at the moment.

J.CO Donuts & Coffee @ Queensbay Mall, Penang.
The newly refurbished J.CO Donuts & Coffee at Queensbay Mall Penang has given its patrons a completely refreshed look and it aims to provide a charming environment for their guests to relax themselves or to have a casual meet up with friends and family. Air-conditioned, high-speed Wifi, comfortable couches, carefully crafted Donuts and freshly brewed Coffee, J.CO Donuts has passed all requirements to a good cafe.
"Many know the brand for its Donuts but we wish to let them (the public) know about the lifestyle-cafe concept either", explained Afad, branding and marketing manager of J.CO Donuts Malaysia. He also added that the company has many other worth-trying products either, for instance, their freshly brewed Coffee. J.CO Donuts has their own coffee bean plantation in Jakarta, Indonesia and all their ingredients as well as combinations are thoughtful chosen by experts. Nevertheless, the conveniently located J.CO Donuts at Queensbay Mall is indeed a good place to stretch your shopping legs and have a sip on their Coffee or even grab a freshly made Donut.
Many Thanks to J.CO Donuts & Coffee for extending the invitation.

Crumbs @ Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang.
Crumbs, a renowned Frozen Yogurt brand in Malaysia, has finally landed in Penang's Gurney Paragon Mall. Originated from Hong Kong, Crumbs has many branches in countries like China, Malaysia and Australia. They specialize in hand-made Scones and Frozen Yogurt with some uncommon varieties of toppings. As for the kiosk here in Gurney Paragon Mall, it does not have much to offer in terms of the flavor of the Frozen Yogurt- only Original flavor is available. What intrigued me was the extensive choices of toppings available, some of the notable ones are Green Tea Mochi, House Crumbs, Mini Meringue, Maltesers and Caramelized Banana. The humble little kiosk of Crumbs can be found right beside the escalator to Sam's Groceria at Lower Ground floor of Gurney Paragon Mall.

The Mugshot Cafe @ Chulia Street, Penang.
Housed in the bustling heart of Georgetown, around the Heritage Area, The Mugshot Cafe has gained a recent fame in serving its unique and freshly made Bagel Muffins as well as their home-made Yogurts. Their Bagel Muffins sell like hotcakes especially during weekends, I was even told that they will be sold out before noon (on weekends), so be there as early as possible if you are visiting the place during weekends. The Mugshot Cafe is just beside Rainforest Bakey at Chulia Street, stone throw away from the Hainanese Restaurant- Sin Kheng Aun. Choices are rather limited and prices are on the expensive side (the drinks particularly) for some but their Bagel Muffins are definitely something shall not be missed.

Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt @ Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang.
The trend of savoring Frozen Yogurt is fading faster than I thought unfortunately, youngsters were eagerly looking for Frozen Yogurt booths/kiosks everywhere after meal few months back in Penang but with all the fancy desserts mushrooming recently such as Tong Pak Fu, The Twelve Cups and even some creative twist on Frozen Yogurt like D' Fahrenheit Yogurt are sharing the "pie" right now. Since I haven't had my Frozen Yogurt for quite some time, my friends and I have decided to grab some for ourselves. Happened to be in Gurney Paragon Mall, we had this refreshing dessert at Moo Cow, ground floor of Moo Cow (beside Pacific Coffee and Morganfield's). Unlike Tutti Fruitti, the prices here are pre-fixed instead of depending on the weight.

Sandwhich @ I-Avenue, Penang.
I
have been a fan of healthy sandwiches and I always hope that we could get
something unique and good beside the boring Subway sandwiches (which I’m
pretty bored of since I’ll be having Subway at least once in a week). If you
are a person whom has more concern about the ingredients, you should probably
read on and check out this place. Sandwhich had its grand opening a couple
months back (19th of January 2013); what makes Sandwhich unique is
that the use of nutritious premium grade ingredients such as Antibiotic Free
Enzyme Chicken, Antibiotic Free Enzyme Pork, Fresh Tuna from Bali, Antibiotic
Free Eggs as well as some freshly home-made Soy Milk/ Yogurt. Fellow bloggers
were honored to be invited by the founder of Sandwhich- Mr. Fong, to sample
some of their healthy and delicate sandwiches the other night. It should not be
too tricky to locate this place, Sandwhich is strategically located at
I-Avenue, Bukit Jambul, where the previous JPJ had their office set up there or
a stone-throw away from Maybank, Hong Leong Bank, as well as Subway. The shop is
also facing Perodua show room at Bukit Jambul. They are still having
their opening promotion, grab this opportunity and try it out yourself!

D Fahrenheit Yogurt @ Farquhar Street, Penang.
It has been my interest to hunt for some unique eateries in Penang and I've came across one recently.... D Fahrenheit Yogurt offers Yogurt-based dessert, with an unique touch of some exquisite flavors. The shop might not be too appealing at first but the moment I had stepped inside, I was surprised to see all the Marilyn Monroe mannequin and posters all around the place. I have yet to try on their main courses but I did try some of their signature desserts and they stood out well. It shouldn't be too hard to locate the place, D Fahrenheit Yogurt is situated at where Penang Bowls is located, right opposite Lexus show room and same row as E&O Hotel Penang. The place has a very cozy ambiance and suitable for gatherings, price-wise, I find it affordable. I was rather amazed by their variety of dessert and the creativity of the restaurateur for creating/ inventing some unique flavors for its diners. I will definitely make another round of visit after Chinese New Year.
