Roti Lah! on Cecil Street is a delightful new Japanese-inspired bakery in Georgetown that’s quickly won over fans with its focus on shio pan — a soft, lightly salty Japanese bread — alongside a good variety of other bakes like focaccia, soft buns and sweet treats that pair wonderfully with coffee or tea. The prices feel reasonable for the quality and craft, making it an easy stop for a mid-morning snack or casual treat. Just note that the seating is very limited (it’s more of a grab-and-go vibe), so it can be hard to accommodate larger groups unless you’re content to take your breads to enjoy elsewhere.

Both savory and sweet options are available at Roti Lah! For savory- we had the Spring Onions Cheese Shio Pan. The Shio Pan was heated up before serving to us and generously topped with fresh Spring Onions. The Cream Cheese-Spring Onion combo never fails. The Shio Pan was addictively crisp on the outside and unbelievably fluffy inside. The Eggplant Chicken Sausage Focaccia was another savory choice we had but the Focaccia was slightly too chewy to our liking. We were not particularly amazed by the Eggplant-Sausage combo, we thought it was nothing out of the ordinary. For sweet treats- we had the Japanese Caramelized Sweet Potato Shio Pan and Daifuku Bun. We prefer the latter one- fresh Strawberry wrapped in Daifuku skin and served with Red Bean paste (with a salty touch). This place is worth a look if you do enjoy some really delicious Japanese-inspired Shio Pan!
