With origins linked to the long-established Jawi Chai Kuih Sin Soon Lee (since 1924), Penang Famous Teow Chew Chai Kuih continues the tradition of classic Teochew steamed dumplings. The first branch in Penang island can be found at Dickens Street, the menu expands from the signature Chai Kuih to other Chinese stir fries as well as an array of Noodle dishes. The restaurant is clean, spacious and air-conditioned.... offering a more comfortable space for diners to enjoy their Teow Chew delights.

Stir Fried Teo Chew Mee Tiao (Rm 9.90/ small)

Stir Fried Silver Needle Noodles (Rm 9.90/ small)
Teo Chew Orh Nee (Rm 12.50)
Their Chai Kuih is steamed to order. While the skin was paper thin, we thought the texture was a little too mushy to our liking. We do enjoy the generous filling though. We found the Teo Chew Mee Tiao more appealing than the rest of the noodle dishes mainly due to the charred smokiness (Wok Hei) and al-dente texture of the noodles. The White Loh Mee was something similar to Mee Sua Koh- with gooey broth (has a bit of minced Meat, Prawns and Shitake Mushrooms) and often served with Black Vinegar. If you have bigger appetite, go for the big portion. The sweet treat of Orh Nee (Yam Paste) was alright- we appreciate the citrusy touch, presumably from Dried Tangerine Skin.
