Looking to enjoy your morning Dim Sum with a sea view? Zai Seng Dim Sum 再生点心 at Pantai Bersih is probably an option that you would like to explore. Opened in mid 2024, the place is within a short drive from Raja Uda, Butterworth. The Dim Sum restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables and seats. The best time to visit is early in the morning for the cool sea breeze, it gets warmer in the day. In terms of food offerings- the variety is not as extensive as that of some established Dim Sum restaurants in town... though they do serve a few stir fried noodle options. This is a place more for its ambiance than for an outstanding culinary experience- but if you’re planning to visit, their stir-fried noodles are worth a try.

Peninsula House @ Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang.
Hidden in one of the heritage buildings along Beach Street, Peninsula House has been around for quite some time. Word of mouth has it that the place serves some really delicious Aussie-inspired dishes. On its official website- Peninsula House is a modern Aussie restaurant with casual contemporary Dining. Make your way up the stairs from the unassuming entrance (opposite to The Whiteaways Arcade) and you will be welcomed by a well-spaced, modern-casual restaurant with high ceiling... as well as fog machine setting the mysterious tone. They serve different menus for lunch and dinner, our visit was on a fine Saturday Noon. Not overly crowded but if you are visiting in a large group, early reservation is suggested.

Tai Yi Taiwanese Restaurant 台壹腿库饭 @ Bukit Mertajam, Penang.
Tai Yi Taiwanese Restaurant 台壹腿库饭 has proven to be one of the popular dining spots in the neighborhood since its opening late last year. We are not surprised- affordably priced food items, delicious food and great services. The fully air-conditioned restaurant offers a Taiwanese menu, with a couple of uncommonly seen dishes (at least in Penang). The place is especially crowded on weekends, so do plan your visit accordingly.

[Travel/ Food Guide] Itinerary to Guangzhou, China (广州,中国) 2025
With many Malaysian Chinese have roots in Southern China and thanks to the affordable flight tickets as well as ease of entry (waiver of tourist visa for Malaysians), Guangzhou has been a popular travel destination for many. There are plenty of options when it comes to flight, including many direct flights from Malaysia directly to Guangzhou. The costs of living are pretty much similar, if not lower in Guangzhou as compared to Malaysia.
Moving around the city was a breeze- we utilized DiDi in our entire trip and never bothered to use the public transportation. DiDi costs are generally inexpensive in Guangzhou and the app is user-friendly (via Alipay). Accommodation-wise, we stayed in Mercure Beijing Road Guangzhou. The hotel is strategically located in the middle of Beijing Road Pedestrian Street and basically you get to explore everything in the vicinity with a breeze. High recommend!
Sharing the below food places that we've been to during this trip:

Diva Viet Thai Cuisine @ Taman Kheng Tian, Jelutong, Penang.
A popular Vietnamese-Thai restaurant in the neighborhood of Taman Kheng Tian: Diva Viet Thai Cuisine, just opened end of last year but has garnered an appreciate following. One of the main reasons- the big Vietnamese menu featuring many classic Vietnamese delights like Spring Rolls, Beef Noodles, Vietnamese Pancakes etc. On top of these Vietnamese dishes, they do have some stir-fry dishes that are more acceptable to the wider range of diners. The place is manned by both locals and Vietnamese, a decent place to ease your cravings towards Vietnamese delights.
