Manned by Chinese Muslims, Mee Tarik Shepherd is a Muslim-friendly eatery in Sungai Nibong that specializes in Xinjiang cuisine. The air-conditioned restaurant serves up classics like hand-pulled Mee Tarik, lamb pilaf, stir-fried dishes, and barbecue skewers. A good option for those looking to try something different beyond the usual local fare, with a comfortable setting to enjoy it in.
Traditional Beef Noodles (Rm 12)
Xin Jiang Lamb Pilaf (Rm 20)
Grilled Naan (Rm 8)/ Grilled Gluten (Rm 3.50)/ Grilled Lamb Skewer (Rm 8)
We started with the Traditional Beef Noodles, while the broth was clean and easy on the palate. We thought it lacked depth. We've had quite a number of Mee Tarik before and would prefer the version with Radish added. It has this underlying Radish-sweetness which really adds a different layer of dimension to it. Mee Tarik Shepherd's has quite a bold Pepper element, to the extent I was suspecting Peppercorn... as our tongue had this numbing sensation. The noodles were disappointingly soft though, was expecting something more al-dente. The Lamb Pilaf fared better in comparison. The Rice was well-covered with Lamb fats and the Carrots introduced a sleek sweetness to it. The barbecue items were not too shabby too, we recommend trying their Lamb Skewer.
