Situated in a comfortable, fully air-conditioned space, 5 Senses Noodle Bar (Sharing Plates) offers a thoughtfully spaced layout that makes for relaxed dining. There’s free parking available at the back (via Victoria Street), with additional spots right in front—so access is convenient too. The menu brings together Chinese-style dishes with a Western twist, and their handmade noodle selection truly shines. Just a heads-up—most dishes are pork-based, so it may not be the best fit if you're avoiding pork. Still, if you enjoy hearty noodles with an interesting fusion flair, it’s definitely worth a look.
We started with Roti Babi, a classic Penang dish with Hainanese origin. Instead of the usual Worchester sauce, 5 Senses uses a Sesame sauce-Worchester concoction... offering a creamy-acidic sauce to the crispy bun. Brioche was used instead of the usual one, inevitably greasy but with the dip, it did hit the spot. For noodles, we had the signature Tiger Prawn Dried Noodles and slightly Western 5 Senses Carbonara. The former one was expertly crafted, the noodle dressing was somewhat similar to Scallion Oil Noodles (possibly Prawn Oil) but topped with fresh Salmon Roe and 3 gigantic Prawns. The seasoning was spot on and the noodles were al-dente. We did not like the Carbonara unfortunately- there were Pork Lards and Bacon, the Pork notes were bold. Their very own handmade noodles were used instead of the usual Spaghetti (no cream but the Yolk-Cheese concoction; probably overly creative for me.
