Kei Rop Pi Cafe 街路边咖啡馆 is a new spot where you can find plenty of popular, delicious Penang hawker dishes in one space. The name is simply a translation from Hokkien, which means "roadside cafe" (refers to street food). The Kopitiam gathers all popular Penang hawker dishes on their menu, notable ones include Michelin Selected Misai Jawa Mee, Tiger Char Koay Teow etc. Apart from the hawker fare, the Kopitiam also offers some classic Malaysian-Western dishes as well as some Chinese stir fries. The place is air-conditioned and offers an al-fresco space for those who prefer outdoorsy ambiance; a comfortable space to enjoy some delicious Penang hawker food.

Pan Heong Restaurant 品香食家小馆 @ Batu Caves, Selangor.

Pan Heong Restaurant 品香食家小馆 is definitely the most popular and busiest restaurant in the Batu Caves neighborhood; established for more than 3 decades, the Chinese restaurant has been serving the local community for years. It started off with a few signature dishes and slowly expanding its menu throughout the years. To date, the restaurant offers a bible-thick menu, offering dishes suitable for all age-range. Best seller and signature dishes include the River Prawn Wat Tan Hor, Porridge and various Chinese stir fries. The place is often packed on weekends and short wait is usually expected. Nevertheless, Pan Heong Restaurant is still a good choice when it comes to family restaurant at Batu Caves area.

Chinese New Year Menu 2023 @ Maple Palace Restaurant 美宝阁, Georgetown, Penang.

Embrace the joyous spirit of the Lunar New Year with Maple Palace Penang's exquisite Chinese New Year menu 2024. Renowned for its culinary prowess, Maple Palace 美宝阁 invites patrons to embark on a gastronomic journey. The upcoming Chinese New Year menu themed "The Spirit of the Dragon and Stallion" banquet has a blend of traditional Cantonese tastes with Sze Chuan-inspired elements; curated using modern cooking techniques, diners can expect for a unique and memorable dining experience, exclusively available this Chinese New Year (there are 6 different menus, with incremental pricing options from a party of two to a table of ten and more). Reservation opens from 26 December 2023 and a 50% deposit is required to secure the table.

Qian Ji Beef Noodle 谦记牛肉面 @ Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

A Taiwanese Beef Noodle specialist, Qian Ji Beef Noodle 谦记牛肉面 is a fairly new Beef Noodle joint in the old Bukit Mertajam town. The menu revolves around Taiwanese Beef Noodles, with some extra add-ons and side dishes like Dumplings. The choices are limited especially if you are not into Beef. The place however, is comfortable and fully air-conditioned. Not too shabby for Taiwanese Beef Noodles but not to the extent that I would travel all the way to there to have it. 

Big M Dumpling 大麦生煎 @ Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

Big M Dumpling 大麦生煎 gained its popularity over social media and many flock to the place just to have a taste on the signature dishes. Housed in Chariton Hotel Bukit Mertajam (next to AEON BM), Big M Dumpling occupies a space at the lobby area and offers a small Chinese menu featuring Noodle, Soup and Dumplings options. Due to lack of space, the menu is fairly limited to only a few choices but that does not stop regulars from patronizing the place. Fresh, quality food at wallet-friendly prices, comfortable dining area are some of the reasons why Big M Dumpling is never short of customers. 

Urai Thai Kitchen @ Lebuh Cintra, Georgetown, Penang.

Urai Thai Kitchen is one of the latest additions to the Penang Thai food scene, it is a casual eatery that serves up some seriously good Thai food in the heart of Georgetown. It is easy to miss Urai Thai Kitchen, pay attention to the right side while you are driving along Cintra Street, the Thai restaurant is a short walk away from the traditional biscuit shop- Ng Kee. Menu-wise, the restaurant offers a big Thai menu with many familiar classics on the list; for solo-diners, you can also order their Set Meal which is good for only one diner. Dishes are reasonably priced with good, complex Thai flavors; worth checking out for Thai food lovers.

Housed in the Old Frees' Association at Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Wayla Kin is a popular dining spot for the white collar working nearby. The reasons are simple- plenty of parking lots, big menu with reasonable prices. Not only weekday lunch hours but the place is equally busy for dinners. While the Western menu is still there, many patrons return for their Thai delights. The restaurant is air-conditioned and with complimentary car park, this place is ideal for any casual meals or family eat-outs.

Mil Toast House @ The Exchange TRX, Kuala Lumpur.

Popular bakery cafe- Mil Toast House from Seoul (South Korea) has finally landed in Malaysia following their oversea expansion at Bangkok earlier. The brand has chosen The Exchange TRX, the latest premium retail mall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur... opening its first branch in Malaysia. The menu features its signature steamed Bread as well as some sweet dessert Toasts with a selection of beverages. We were there during the opening weekend and due to overwhelming responses, many items on the menu were sold out and we were left a few choices only.
