Pan Heong Restaurant 品香食家小馆 is definitely the most popular and busiest restaurant in the Batu Caves neighborhood; established for more than 3 decades, the Chinese restaurant has been serving the local community for years. It started off with a few signature dishes and slowly expanding its menu throughout the years. To date, the restaurant offers a bible-thick menu, offering dishes suitable for all age-range. Best seller and signature dishes include the River Prawn Wat Tan Hor, Porridge and various Chinese stir fries. The place is often packed on weekends and short wait is usually expected. Nevertheless, Pan Heong Restaurant is still a good choice when it comes to family restaurant at Batu Caves area.

The River Prawn Wat Tan Hor is a must have at Pan Heong. It is no surprise that this dish is one of the best sellers and a signature dish of theirs. The gravy has a great consistency and expertly seasoned, together with the River Prawn Tomalley, one can clearly taste the umaminess in the gravy. The Hor Fun is also skillfully stir fried with a mellow but discernible wok hei. Undoubtedly fresh, the Steamed Soon Hock Fish is lip-smackingly good with silky smooth, plump flesh, served with their signature sauce (not the classic premium Soy sauce). 

Another regulars' favorite- the Fish Slice and Century Egg Porridge is a comforting dish to have. Fresh fish slices are added to silky smooth Cantonese-style Porridge, no extra seasoning/sauce is required. It is well-seasoned and goes well with some Chinese Fried Crullers (You Tiao). None of the dishes disappoint. There are so many options- from wallet-friendly choices to dishes that cater to those with deeper pockets; a worth-visiting place if you are in the neighborhood.
