Wayla Kin Thai Restaurant @ Old Frees' Association (OFA), Georgetown, Penang.

Housed in the Old Frees' Association at Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Wayla Kin is a popular dining spot for the white collar working nearby. The reasons are simple- plenty of parking lots, big menu with reasonable prices. Not only weekday lunch hours but the place is equally busy for dinners. While the Western menu is still there, many patrons return for their Thai delights. The restaurant is air-conditioned and with complimentary car park, this place is ideal for any casual meals or family eat-outs.

Fried Seabass Nam Pla (Rm 55)

Steamed Lemon Seabass (Rm 62)

Fried Hatyai Chicken (Rm 30)

Fermented Soya Bean Dip with Crab (Rm 25)

Stir Fried Kangkung (Rm 15)

Stir Fried Mix Vegetables (Rm 15)

Stir Fried Kai Lan (Rm 15)

We thought Wayla Kin was quite good with their fishes, the Steamed Lemon Seabass hit the spot with its fiery hot-tangy sauce. The Thai element was strong and for Rm 55, we thought the portion was good. Equally good was the Fried Seabass Nam Pla, the Fish was expertly fried to a crispy texture. It was served with a sweet-savory, starchy Fish Sauce.... good on its own and even better to be enjoyed with some Thai Mango Salad. The Fried Hatyai Chicken was not too shabby either, the meat was well-marinated with a juicy, tender texture. Unfortunately, not everything we ordered was good. Most of the dishes were overly sweet to our liking, especially the vegetable dishes.
