Mango Cha Cha @ Pavilion Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

I was having my 1-day trip to Kuala Lumpur few days ago and I happened to be in Pavilion Mall for some shopping and I came across this dessert shop named Mango Cha Cha. Mango Cha Cha is a Taiwanese based Franchised-dessert shop offering a range of Mango Desserts. The type of Mango they will be using is Irwin Mango, a type of Taiwan Mango which said to be smooth, sweet and flavorsome. Mango Cha Cha promotes healthy dessert where no preservatives nor additional Mango sugar syrup. It is not hard to locate Mango Cha Cha, its situated at Level 4 of Pavilion, right opposite to Chatime. Price is definitely on the higher side, taste-wise, let us see how it justifies...........

Xuan Feng Restaurant (轩风) @ Krystal Point, Bayan Baru, Penang.

It seems like there have been quite an amount of new restaurants have opened at Krystal Point, Bayan Baru since my last visit months ago. For those of you whom are following my blog, you would have knew that i am a big fan of Japanese Ramen. I get to know this restaurant via some vouchers. Xuan Feng Restaurant mainly serves Japanese Ramen, along with some Japanese Rice dishes and some sides. They do serve some desserts as well but choices are rather limited. As for Ramen-wise, you get to pick from more than 10 choices of Ramen, ranging from Pork, Chicken, Seafood and even Vegetarian and each of them will be served together with either Xuan Feng Soup, Miso Soup, Tonkatsu Soup and Clear Broth. Special request to change the soup base can be made upon request but its subjected to availability. I'd consider the price to be fair enough and service was okay but I was having trouble asking the staff to refill my tea for me due to language barriers (he was a foreigner).

Who's Bryan @ All Seasons Place, Farlim, Penang.

Mesmerized by the name of this restaurant- "Who's Bryan" when I drove passed the All Seasons Place, so who is Bryan anyway? I did some research before my visit and happened to know that Who's Bryan has an outlet in mainland, Raja Uda, Butterworth. I've learnt that they do opened at Upper Penang Road before but I am not sure whether they are still in business. I was there on the last day of the year 2012, the place was flooded with people and I had to wait for nearly half an hour (probably they were still new and inexperienced in handling such an overwhelming crowd). Who's Bryan mainly serves Western Food but I reckon improvements are needed for both their services and taste. From what we had that night, the three of us have agreed that all the dishes we had were extremely oily. More descriptions can be found below...

Ochado @ Butterworth, Penang.

** Ochado Butterworth is no longer in business since then.**

It is never easy to find a cozy place to have a small gathering with a couple of friends, enjoying both tea and cakes but not costing a bomb. I was at Bagan Lalang having my seafood lunch at Ong Cheng Huat Seafood just before this, I was thinking to turn into Raja Uda to hunt for some other interesting stuff and coincidentally, I've bumped into this place...... Ochado. Originated from Japan, Ochado had its first brew in Singapore back in the year 2010 and ever since then, it has became one of the most well known brand in selling Taiwanese Bubble Tea. It would be such a shame if Ken were to blog about just Taiwanese Bubble Tea.... Hence, I would just focus mainly on the cakes offered. Ochado Butterworth is located right opposite to Chung Ling Butterworth and the road behind Raja Uda. It should not be hard to find as long as you can locate Chung Ling Butterworth accurately. Price-wise, was okay, slightly cheaper as compared to Chatime I reckon. I would personally recommend their Matcha-related beverage for drinks and here it goes for the cakes.....

D Fahrenheit Yogurt @ Farquhar Street, Penang.

It has been my interest to hunt for some unique eateries in Penang and I've came across one recently.... D Fahrenheit Yogurt offers Yogurt-based dessert, with an unique touch of some exquisite flavors. The shop might not be too appealing at first but the moment I had stepped inside, I was surprised to see all the Marilyn  Monroe mannequin and posters all around the place. I have yet to try on their main courses but I did try some of their signature desserts and they stood out well. It shouldn't be too hard to locate the place, D Fahrenheit Yogurt is situated at where Penang Bowls is located, right opposite Lexus show room and same row as E&O Hotel Penang. The place has a very cozy ambiance and suitable for gatherings, price-wise, I find it affordable. I was rather amazed by their variety of dessert and the creativity of the restaurateur for creating/ inventing some unique flavors for its diners. I will definitely make another round of visit after Chinese New Year.

Hui Kee (辉记大排档) @ Larut Road, Penang.

It is not too common nor easy to find when it comes to Fish Head Hot Pot or Hu Tao Lor since we do have too much eateries offering this dish in Penang. I did come across a Chu Char stall nearby Larut Road which offers Hu Tao Lor (their signature dish) recently and most importantly, I was attracted by the price. Not limited to Fish Head Hot Pot only, Hui Kee serves some local Chu Char dishes too, as well as Poon Choi/ Basin Feast Dish. It's easy to locate Hui Kee, simply find Royal Hotel or KFC Larut Road, Hui Kee is just beside Royal Hotel and opposite to KFC at Larut Road (behind Penang Plaza). I find most of the dishes here at Hui Kee are priced reasonably and service can be real fast. No reservation is needed for the Fish Head Hot Pot but reservation is required for their Poon Choi.

Ong Cheng Huat Seafood (椰脚,王清发海鲜) @ Bagan Lalang, Penang.

[Update- 19 July 2016 Recent Experience at Ong Cheng Huat, Bagan Lallang]
Ong Cheng Huat Seafood is more of a fast-food joint right now, orders were served in a jiffy but most of them were in warm-state (not hot).
1) Palm Wine was a lot more diluted than before, as though we were drinking plain water with a hint of acidity, sans the coconut fragrance.
2) Blanched Octopuses were overcooked with resilient texture.
3) Spring Chickens were poorly marinated, the flavors were weak.
The only item that we enjoyed was the Steamed Tiger Grouper but again, the dish could be served hotter and more minced Garlic could be added.

Hidden in some village outskirt of Raja Uda, Ong Cheng Huat Seafood provides one of the cheapest and freshest seafood that you can possibly find in Penang. The exact location is a bit tedious to find, do ask the people around for directions and I am sure that they will be more than willing to help. There are not much options in Ong Cheng Huat Seafood as they focus mainly in a few dishes only and most of them are assured of certain quality. The prices for every single dishes are unexpectedly cheaper as compared to those over-rated Seafood eateries in Penang island. I was totally amazed by their serving speed, it took around 10 minutes for them to serve us all the dishes ordered but do not expect much from the ambiance, though it has improved since then. From Penang Island, exit at Bagan Lalang highway and drive straight until you hit a traffic light (with a lake on your left and factories on your right), turn right into the road. Keep driving straight until you hit a traffic light again, keep going straight. After approximately 5 minutes, pay attention to your left hand side for the banner stating Ong Cheng Huat Seafood. This is definitely one of my favorite places to think of when it comes to Octopuses and Fresh Fish Head.
