Located along Victoria Street in George Town, Déjeuner Bistro by Lumiere Restaurant offers a French-inspired bistro experience that reflects the refined approach of its parent restaurant, Lumiere Restaurant. The menu features quality ingredients and well-executed dishes with decent portion sizes, though prices are slightly above average compared to typical casual spots in town. The biggest downside was the service — it took more than an hour for our orders to arrive, which is difficult to justify at this price point.
We started off with the complimentary Bread (which was toasted and served warm) with their homemade Butter; followed by the starters of Prawn Tartare and Cream of Pumpkin Soup. The Prawn Tartare felt like a Salsa dish but both Starters were perfectly fine. On the mains- we had both Kombu Truffle Cream and Beef Wined Oxtail. The former one packed a bold earthy flavors, mainly due to Truffle. The texture of the Pasta could be more al-dente but we could tell that the Pasta was freshly made. The flavor-combo (with Ikura) was absolutely lovely. The Oxtail on the other side, was a tad too salty to our liking. We appreciate the fork-tender texture but it was too salty for our palate. The meal enders were fine- the Tiramisu fared better than the Brownie, the alcohol-factor was strong in the Tiramisu and that surely scored some marks. Some hits and misses on the food but one thing for sure- they will need to improve on their serving speed!
