Kins Penang is a fresh addition to the city’s dining scene, presenting a casual European-styled bistro concept that’s approachable rather than pretentious. While prices sit beyond average compared with typical neighbourhood cafés, they feel justified by the good quality of ingredients and solid dishes that explore bold, interesting flavour combinations. The atmosphere is relaxed and unassuming — perfect for laid-back lunches or dinners without any fuss — and service stands out as genuinely warm and attentive, which makes each visit feel welcoming. It’s also worth noting that the restaurant is pork-free, catering well to diners looking for that option while still enjoying elevated European bistro fare in Penang.
We started off with starters like the Classic Sourdough and Focaccia... served with 3 different dips: Baba Ganoush-like mashed, Balsamic-EVOO Sundried Tomatoes and Orange Butter. Very classic and nothing could go wrong. My partner in crime thought the Sourdough was slightly too dry to her liking. For the Spring Vegetables (Rm 38)- Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Broccolini were served... with a dash of Tahini and roasted Hazelnuts. We love the nutty flavor combo, especially the smoky hue that worked really well with the creamy Tahini. If we must nitpick, we would prefer the Brussel Sprouts to come in larger sizes for a better bite. The mains were equally amazing but my favorite goes to the Coral Fresh Pasta, which is apparently their signature dish as well. Al-dente Fettuccine served in a thick, rich Seafood broth bursting with flavors of the crustacean. Slightly salty on its own but perfect when enjoyed with the Fettuccine. Both the Prawns and Clams were very fresh. The sous-vided Chicken Thigh was fine too, the charred aroma added some marks to the dish.
