Solt Penang is a spacious and stylish restaurant located at 474 Beach Street, right in the heart of Georgetown. With a modern European menu infused with subtle local Malaysian influences, it delivers a creative yet accessible dining experience. The open-kitchen concept adds a lively touch to the cozy, relaxed atmosphere. According to reviews, there’s also a pork-free policy — making it welcoming for a broader crowd. Prices lean a little above average, but the thoughtful food and ambiance help justify it.

We started off with starters like the Potato Churros and House Focaccia. The former one was basically Churros-looking Fries, served with Allium Emulsion with a spicy touch. We thought it was okay for novelty experience. We were slightly under-whelmed with the House Focaccia; at least the texture and appearance did not match our expectations. It was served with their Butter of the Week (Truffle-like) and Onsen Egg with Shallot Oil and Soy glaze. Not bad as a whole but not something that I was expecting. For Pasta, we had the Tortellini. Instead of Spinach and Cream Cheese, we had Mushroom and Feta as filling. The earthy flavor was overwhelming, and it was very delicious. We enjoyed the al-dente edges of the Tortellini too, our complain- the serving portion was too small. Another main- the Smoked Chicken was good. We could taste the charred aroma; while not all parts of the Chicken were tender, they were of acceptable range. But everything was well-seasoned. There was this Mushroom Sauce served as a side, as well as Baba Ghanoush.
