Need some sweet treats to end 2021? Check out Five Years Old Cafe, one of the latest additions to Georgetown. The cafe specializes in home-made cakes and desserts (with a beverage menu), with no main menu. The cake selection however, is big enough to satisfy any dessert lovers. The seating arrangement however, is a little odd and less accommodating for bigger groups; we also found some seats are not comfortable and suitable for long catch up sessions... so do plan ahead if you are heading there in a big group. The price points are slightly beyond average but given the quality of the treats, this place is worth a look. Five Years Old Cafe can be found right opposite to the UMNO building... on Jalan Zainal Abidin.

Albeit the slightly steep price tag, we found the desserts we had were fresh and of certain quality. The Tiramisu proved to be one of their best-sellers, we were fortunate to be able to try it (the very last piece of the day). Instead of serving in a traditional cake mould, the cafe serves it as it is. Texture wise, it was light and creamy but a tad too powdery on the first bite; a contenting treat to share. The Mango Sponge Cake was nice too, we thought the cake would be a little too mushy and soft considering the amount of cream but the layers of cake were firm and had a good contrast to the light and soft cream. The Mangoes were fresh and sweet... the sleek fruity tropical flavor cuts through the creaminess and worked especially well with the cold Peach Tea.
