Pie lovers would be glad to know that a popular chain restaurant that specializes in serving Pies has landed in Penang. Gravy Baby is not new... the chain restaurant has a few outlets in the central region; apart from churning Pies, the restaurant has an elaborate menu from brunch options, Sandwiches, Burgers, Pizza, Steaks, Salad and even Waffles... but do expect to pay a little more than average. The Penang outlet can be found at Chulia Street, right next to the junction to Jalan Pintal Tali; the restaurant has a fun, relaxed vibe with a British-inspired open bar.

For the Pie, we had London Parsley Chicken Pie served with Mashed Potatoes and Peas, a classic British combination in serving Pies. The pastry carried a bold buttery aroma and they were generous with the meat filling but we could not taste even a hint of Parsley or was it overshadowed by the sauce? The Mashed Potatoes and Peas were delicious- creamy and generously served. Baked Gypsy Eggs and Superfood Salad on the other hand, were less-impressive. The Eggs were overcooked and the Yolk was not as flowy as the way I liked, but flavor and seasoning wise, it was good. Superfood Salad did not impress us with the dressing, we thought it was under-seasoned and barely registered any flavor.To pay Rm 25 for a small serving of leafy greens with a measly portion of grains, we thought it was a rip off.
