Belly Good Korean Restaurant @ Promenade, Bayan Lepas, Penang.

Folks working in Bayan Lepas area may now enjoy quick yet inexpensive Korean meals with the opening of Belly Good Korean Restaurant at Promenade. The newly established Korean joint sits on top of Yin's Wholefood Manufactory and offers a small lunch menu for the working crowd; in the evenings, Belly Good rolls out its Buffet Dinner (from Rm 38 per pax) and no ala-carte menu will be served. The lunch menu is pretty much Rice-focused but covers from meat dishes to soups and stews but the variety is pretty limited. The budget-watchers would be glad to know that nothing exceeds Rm 20 for the lunch menu and given the fact that it is possible to refill unlimited Ban Chan (Korean side dishes), the place is especially appealing to those who look for good value. The place has the standard Korean barbecue restaurant setting, nothing fancy... but nothing's missing. A place ideally for quick fix in lieu of absolute taste.

Bibimbap is one of the most popular choices at Belly Good, probably due to its wallet-friendly factor. Belly Good's rendition comes with a concoction of julienned greens like Carrots, Cucumber, Mushrooms, Seaweed and topped with a Sunny Side Up, with the quintessential Gochujang sauce for seasoning. The result was an intimate flavor-combination, we recommend enjoying it with the crunchy, refreshing Kim Chi. The Ginseng Chicken Soup on the other hand, was a disappointment. Not that it was weakly seasoned, the flavor did not stand out. It lacked the much sought-after Ginseng element and the soup was rather diluted. The absence of Glutinous Rice left us underwhelmed either. Not everything was great and it turned out that the safer options (or those that would never go wrong) like Bibimbap are always the best bets.
