BMS Organics @ Moulmein Rise Shoppes, Pulau Tikus, Penang.

Health-conscious and vegetarians need not necessarily depend on salad alone when visiting Georgetown. Pulau Tikus is truly one of the meatless districts in Penang, there are already quite a number of plant-based restaurants and cafes around the neighborhood and now, it welcomes one of the largest vegetarian-chain restaurants in Malaysia- BMS Organics. Housed in the latest commercial building- Moulmein Rise Shoppes, BMS Organics occupies two prominent lots on the ground floor; offering similar menu as to most BMS Organics in the nation. The completely animal-free menu is rather small but has a good blend of both Western and Oriental vegetarian/ vegan delights. Right next to the cafe is mini market that offers a wide range of healthy products but to our surprise, all are cleverly priced and positioned. It's definitely one of the must-visit places for vegetarians and vegans to stock up their daily supplies.

Hakka Lei Cha with Multi-grain Rice (Rm 20.90)

Soy Milk Curry Laksa (Rm 18.90)

Ask those who are in the know and they would recommend BMS Organics' Hakka Lei Cha with Multi-grain Rice and 8 types of condiments (Carrot, Cucumber, White Cabbage, Purple Cabbage, Long Beans, Black Fungus, Pickled Radish and Cashew Nuts). The Lei Cha was easy on the palate, sans the unpleasant bitterness. The crunchy elements complemented the Rice and Lei Cha well, particularly the Pickled Radish for the touch of saltiness and Cashew Nut for the nutty-aroma.

Those who prefer bold flavors could go for their Soy Milk Curry Laksa, a beautiful concoction made of Soy Milk and Curry Powder with various condiments. The broth was most delicious, it carried an indelible sweetness but it was smooth and robust with Curry flavor. Complementing the Curry broth was the bouncy-chewy home-made Noodles. We had ours with a fair share of their Sambal.
