Pandan House @ Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Pandan House is one of the newer additions to the Beach Street stretch in George Town, offering a small, focused menu built around familiar Malaysian staples like Nasi Lemak, Char Bihun and simple toast sets, all within a fully air-conditioned space that makes for a more comfortable dine-in experience. The selection is fairly limited, and while the food quality is generally acceptable with nothing particularly off, the overall experience feels underwhelming—serving times can be quite long, and the pricing doesn’t quite translate into value. A decent spot for a casual stop, but one that leaves room for improvement.

Nasi Lemak Komtar (Rm 25)

Assam Mee Hoon and Satay Kampung (Rm 18)

Pandan Kaya Portuguese Tart (Rm 6.50)

It did take them a while to serve our food- we went straight into their signature mains- the Nasi Lemak Komtar and Assam Mee Hoon and Satay Kampung. The Pandan-infused Nasi Lemak did carry a bold Pandan fragrance and Santan aroma. The Sambal was good too but unfortunately, the Fried Chicken was a tad too dry to our liking. We also thought they could be more generous with the condiments like Anchovies and Hard Boiled Egg. Extra touches like Acar would definitely add some marks. The Assam Char Bihun was decent as well, like any well-cooked Kerabu Bihun that has a hint of acidity. Pandan House's was expertly seasoned. The Satay was okay too. But for Rm 18, we thought it was slightly overpriced (considering that the Char Bihun has no meat or anything worth mentioning to go with it).
