Pin Yu Kopitiam 槟屿茶室 @ Macalister Road, Georgetown, Penang.

Taking over the former Shae.co lot, Pin Yu Kopitiam is a fresh addition to the neighborhood, offering a cozy space with limited seating and a familiar kopitiam-style menu. Think local favorites like Nasi Lemak, Kaya Butter Toast, and their standout Penang Curry Mee.  Items are reasonably priced and the place is air-conditioned, not too shabby for a simple Malaysian breakfast or lunch fix in town.

Kochabi Curry Mee (Rm 9.90)

Kapitan Chicken Nasi Lemak (Rm 16.90)

Curry Chicken Chee Cheong Fun (Rm 12.90)

Teh C (Rm 5.20) and White Coffee O (Rm 4.50)

Sugar Cane Sea Coconut (Rm 6.90)

We were pleasantly surprised with the serving portion of the Chicken Kapitan Nasi Lemak at Pin Yu Kopitiam- satisfyingly huge with a good classic combination of hard boiled Egg, deep fried Anchovies, Peanuts, Papadum and generous amount of Sambal. The Pea Flower-infused Rice was unfortunately not "Lemak" enough, it lacked of the usual fragrance as well. But the Chicken Kapitan was beautifully cooked- tender and flavorful; the Sambal carried a hint of acidity which made everything seemingly lighter and easier on the palate. The signature Penang Curry Mee had some misses too. The broth could be creamier and "Lemak" in our opinion but the other elements were alright except paying a little more for the dining atmosphere.
