Silkroad Lanzhou Beef Ramen @ The ZEN, Bayan Lepas, Penang.

A new China Chinese Mee Tarik restaurant has opened up at The Zen Bayan Lepas. Managed by a group of Chinese Chinese Muslim, the eatery specializes Lan Zhou hand-pulled noodles complemented by a selection of Chinese stir fries and barbecue items. The space is air-conditioned though the ventilation could be improved — diners may leave with a hint of cooking smell. Dishes are reasonably priced and come in generous portions, making it a decent option for a quick, fuss-free meal.

Beef Cold Noodles (Rm 15.80)

Stir Fried Sliced Noodles with Chicken (Rm 15.80)

Chinese Pita Bread with Minced Beef (Rm 10 each)

We started with the Pita Bread with some minced beef filling- the outer bread tasted exactly like a Pita bread. No surprises nor disappointment and nothing out of the ordinary. For noodles, we had both hot and cold versions. The cold version was a finer noodles with Beef and served with basic seasonings as well as vegetables (Cucumber, Carrots, Tomatoes etc). It was okay on its own but better with the addition of Chili flakes. We actually enjoyed this more than the hot version- stir fried sliced Noodles with Chicken. We thought the latter one was weak in seasoning and overly greasy. The texture of the noodles was great though. The serving portion was humongous and the 2 of us struggled to finish.
