Lee Jia Koay Teow Th'ng 李蔗芭粿条汤 @ Pulau Tikus, Penang.

Another branch to the famous Sungai Lokan Koay Teow Th'ng, Lee Jia at Pulau Tikus carries the same food offering, specializing in Koay Teow Th'ng as well as extra add-ons like fresh Seafood (Octopus, Prawns, Grouper Fish etc). The new space is comfortable, air-conditioned and well-spaced. The Koay Teow Th'ng is affordably priced from RM9 but the add-ons would cost more with Grouper Fish starting from RM15 for a small portion.

Koay Teow Th'ng (Rm 7/ small)

Koay Teow Dry (Rm 7/ small)

Fishball Soup (Rm 7/ large)

Blanched Octopus (Rm 12/ small)

Blanched Grouper Fish (Rm 15/ small)

Pork Intestines (Rm 5)

Chrysanthemum Tea (Rm 2.50) and Herbal Tea (Rm 2.50)

There are a few noodle types to choose from but we opted for the most basic one- Koay Teow. We had both dry and soup version; the soup was light and easy on the palate but might be a little under seasoned for some. The dry version came with a spoonful of Chili paste which was really the soul of the dish. It gave the noodles the necessary spicy kick as well as an extra salty touch. We were slightly underwhelmed with the absence of vegetables (except the sprinkle of Spring Onions). We've also had the extra add-ons: the Grouper was fine, with meaty texture but we thought the portion was a little too small and there were bones so exercise extra caution when feeding to young kids. The Octopus was fresh but a pity that they were overcooked with a rubbery texture. Fortunately, we did enjoy the Fish Balls. Some hits and misses, can't say the Koay Teow Th'ng is my favorite though.
