Maroon Fusion Cuisine is the latest Muslim-friendly eatery at Arena Curve... offering an array of Malaysian's favorites. Expect to find some Mamak stall-focused dishes on the menu like Nasi Kandar, Maggi Goreng, Nasi Kandar... as well as Nasi Lemak and sides. The bright side- you get to enjoy these delicacies in a clean, air-conditioned and comfortable environment. Dishes are also reasonably priced with generous serving portions.
For the signature Nasi Kandar Ayam Masak Merah, diners get to choose between White Rice or Tomato Rice; we opted for the latter option. The rice carried a good hint of herbs and spices... lightly seasoned; the whole dish consisted of a Fried Chicken, Okras, stir fried Cabbage, Hard Boiled Egg and a piece of Papadam with a side Curry to serve. The sauce for the Fried Chicken was a tad too sweet to our liking, almost similar to the Thai Chili sauce. We found ourselves enjoying the side Curry more. Overall, not too shabby. The Maggi Goreng Sotong Bakar paled in comparison with the Nasi Kandar. The texture of the noodles was somewhat soft (not to say slouchy) but you know... slightly overcooked instant noodles. Nothing particularly exciting about the seasoning but we observed that a generous amount of Cabbage was added for the crunch. On the Squid, it was grilled before being served with the curry. We believe it was not marinated and hence, the Squid itself was weak in seasoning. Fortunately, the Satay Ayam Banjir made up for it. We love the generous Chicken meat served with loads of Peanut sauce (with Peanuts coarse). It carried a hint of sweetness and complemented the Chicken well.
