[Year 2024] Food Hunting- Day Trip @ Lenggong Town 玲珑, Perak.

Slightly more than 100 km north from Ipoh, Lenggong 玲珑 is approximately 2.5 hours drive away from Penang island. The sleeping town is surrounded by lush greens and mountains. It is small and easy to navigate, it is also close to Lake Raban and famous for an archaeology site... making it a perfect short getaway for nature and history lovers. Apart from the rural-nature beauty of Lenggong, the town is also known to churn out some really fresh and delicious freshwater fish. For those planning for a quick getaway to Taiping, do consider to stop by Lenggong too.

Chat Sook is definitely the most popular restaurant in Lenggong, it is the neighborhood restaurant that everyone goes to- whether its for a casual meal or certain events/gatherings. The restaurant has been around for years and known to churn out some really delicious Chinese stir-fry dishes; the menu is extensive but reasonably priced. You can find some really old school dishes here too, namely the Deep Fried Spring Rolls... cooked with Caul Fat (猪网油) and handmade Sai Tou Fish Balls. None of the dishes disappoint but we strongly recommend trying the steamed Patin King... luscious, pristine white flesh with tender-smooth texture. The specially concocted soy sauce concoction with Goji Berries definitely added some marks.

The cafe is not right next to the river but its just a short distance walk away. The beverage menu is small but you get to enjoy a cup of Joe in this serene setting surrounded by lush greenery while enjoying the natural breeze. Nothing particularly exciting about the food but more like a place for its atmosphere.

San Sing Huat is one of the popular go-to breakfast places in Lenggong town, apart from serving classic Kaya Butter Toast with homemade Kaya, the place serves some of stir-fried noodles in Lenggong. We recommend trying their Stir Fried Vermicelli Noodles with Yellow Noodles... which packed a good Wok Hei. Would be fun to try their Chee Cheong Fun too, completely different from the ones in Penang as they don't use Shrimp Paste at all.

4) Lenggong Market
Business Hours: 6 am to 2 pm. Opens Daily.

Never leave Lenggong without having a casual stroll at the wet market. It is particularly busy in the mornings with a lot of road side stalls where you can find fresh local produce like Banana, Petai, various Herbs and Ulam, Ikan Pekasam (marinated Fish) etc. It is also good to take the opportunity to have a casual stroll around the town and be mesmerized at the beauty of the town.

Have Fun Exploring Lenggong!
