A brisk breakfast spot in town- Kopi Kia 咖比仔 has been receiving a lot of attention since its opening late last year. The brand has 2 outlets under its care (one at Macalister Road, another one at Promenade Bayan Lepas) with the Macalister branch being the 2nd branch. it is easy to see massive crowd gathering at the place especially on weekends. The reasons are simple: reasonable charges, free and ample parking lots, good variety of local delights and air-conditioned space; making the place ideal for a weekend family eat-out. We had good experience with our visit to Kopi Kia at Macalister Road on a busy Sunday morning. We could tell that the staff is well-trained and good in crowd management. Food order wise- none of them disappoint.
Char Koay Teow with Chicken Egg (Rm 11)
Hor Fun with shredded Chicken and Prawn (Rm 13.90)
Tok Tok Mee with Wan Ton (Rm 9.90)
Kopi O (Rm 3.60)/ Teh C (Rm 4.80)/ Soft Boiled Eggs (Rm 3.80)

Black Glutinous Rice Dessert (Rm 6.90)
Our orders did arrive in a jiffy. We started with the classic Malaysian favorite- Kaya Butter Toast with Soft Boiled Eggs. Nothing special but nothing went wrong, a pretty standard one. The Tok Tok Wan Ton Mee was not too shabby, the noodles could be springier but they were not that bad, at least not overly soft. The soy sauce concoction was good with a hint of sweetness. According to the menu, the Char Koay Teow recipe is from Tiger Char Koay Teow. We could not taste the similarity but the Char Koay Teow itself was good. It has the quintessential Wok Hei and the Prawns were huge and plump. The Chicken Hor Fun was okay, very generous portion though. Many of us sang our praises on their Bee Koh Moi. The consistency was good and they did it right with the Santan (Coconut Milk) which has a fair touch of saltiness. Dried Longan was missing it was alright.
