Dawn Bread @ Church Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Another option for bread lovers to try out is Dawn Bread at Church Street, the latest boulangerie in the heart of Penang. Dawn Bread churns out freshly baked Bagels and Lye Bread (like Lye Rolls, Pretzels); available in different shapes and flavors for guests to choose from. For dine-in, there are a few small tables available. The dine-in menu is small with a few toppings to go with the Bagels... as well as their specially concocted Cream Cheese.

Mixed Grain Bagel (top up Rm 5) with Purple Potato Cream Cheese (Rm 9)

Smoked Salmon with Poppy Seed Bagel (Rm 25.80)

Plain Pretzel (Rm 5.50)

For Bagel, we had the Mixed Grain Bagel with Purple Potato Cream Cheese. The Purple Potato Cream Cheese was lovely- it has a hint of the sweet potato aroma with salty Cream Cheese essence. Cream Cheese-aside, we thought their Pretzels appealed more to us... the Bagels were missing the much-desired chewy texture and slightly too dry to our liking. We've requested for a heat up for the plain Pretzel; the texture was good (standard for a Pretzel), slightly chewy but not overly so. We were a little underwhelmed with the absence of coarse salt on the Pretzels... just our personal preference. We've also had their Smoked Salmon Bagel, for Rm 25.80, we were expecting more value... like some greens or perhaps some Capers. It was really just Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, raw Onions and Bagels; a little monotonous towards the end.
