Di Vietz Vietnamese Pho @ Chai Leng Park, Butterworth, Penang.

Slightly off the beaten track- Di Vietz Vietnamese Pho is a fairly new Vietnamese restaurant at Butterworth, near to Jalan Chain Ferry. But the restaurant captures the true flavors of Vietnamese cuisine and probably one of the best in the neighborhood. It's hard to miss the restaurant... thanks to its gigantic, flashy yellow signage. The restaurant occupies 2 shop lots (next to each other) and occupies a huge, comfortable air-conditioned space for diners. The menu is Vietnamese-focused, offering plenty of notable Vietnamese dishes like different types of noodles (including Hue-style noodles), rice dishes, Banh Mi and various snacks/ sides. Reasonable charges, attentive service, authentic flavors, generous serving portion are some of the reasons why this restaurant is popular.

Beef Pho (Rm 19.90)

BBQ Chicken Breast Vermicelli (Rm 19.90)

Beef Salad (Rm 18.90)

Deep Fried Spring Rolls (Rm 12.90)

Chicken Spring Rolls (Rm 12.90)

Black Coffee (Rm 8.90) and Original Yogurt (Rm 7.90)

Di Vietz is a Muslim-friendly restaurant so the Spring Rolls do not come with Pork. We had the Chicken version and thought it was okay. They were generous with the filling and the dipping sauce was spot on. We would probably prefer the deep fried version more, for the extra crisp. The Beef Salad was very good with plenty of grilled Beef slices and heaps of herbs and crunchy greens. The sauce has a mix of sweet and tanginess, good on its own but even better with the sesame-seed crackers. For mains, had Beef Pho and BBQ Chicken Breast Vermicelli. We must say both were very good. The Beef Pho's broth had a clean-taste, backed by a beefy punch. With the fresh Herbs, it was hearty and most comforting. Our only complaint- missing the lip-burning Vietnamese chili. The BBQ Chicken Breast Vermicelli was equally good with a refreshing crunch but the real draw... the BBQ Chicken Breast was surprisingly tender and juicy, beautifully marinated and seasoned as well.
