1M Specialty Coffee House is the latest addition to Hillside Tanjung Tokong (next to Domino's Pizza and a few doors away from Guardian Pharmacy). It is easy to spot 1M Specialty Coffee House, thanks to its welcoming entrance painted in bright colors. The menu is not big- featuring some classic Western dishes as well as some modern, playful Asian delights (we were there in early February and they were still in soft launch stage so there might be some changes to the menu) with prices slightly on the higher side. Not everything we had was good but given that they were still very new, the place is still worth a second look. If you are in the vicinity and wondering what to eat, do give it a try.
We started off with Focaccia... served with Strawberry Jam and Salted Butter. The Focaccia was over-toasted and the edges were burnt. They were buttered before being toasted so the texture was a little overly greasy to our liking. Not even a hint of herbs was detected, just butter. For Rm 9, we thought it was a disappointment. The Chicken Breast Brekkie was not shabby- the Chicken Breast was sous-vided before being pan fried; served with some grilled Vegetables, a Sunny Side Up and a piece of Focaccia. All of them were reasonably seasoned... but a tad too greasy to our liking. The 1M Mala Fish Don was probably our favorite for that day- a very creative dish with grilled Barramundi served atop of Japanese Rice (dressed in Japanese Curry-Mala sauce), topped with cooked Spinach and Salmon Roe. Creative flavor-combo and fun-playful concept, with a strong Mala kick (also the Shichimi powder heat).
