DUAN 二杬 @ Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang.

DUAN 二杬 at Beach Street is a one-of-a-kind restaurant, it is fairly new but many are lured by its unique food offering- contemporary Malaysian cuisine that preserves local flavors yet, introducing an interesting twist to the classic dishes. The restaurant serves no pork; menu-wise, you will find many familiar local Malaysian dishes... from Nasi Biryani to various Curries, Satay etc. The interior decor is however, nothing Malaysian at all. It has a modern take on simplicity with a little industrial vibe. The price points are of restaurant-standard but the food quality is there. Worth checking out if you are up for a sweat-inducing, rich-flavored Malaysian Curry journey.

Biryani Rice (Rm 12)

Beef Rendang Curry (Rm 28)

Signature Crispy Ayam Goreng (Rm 18)

Special Chicken Satay (Rm 18/ 6 pcs)

Signature Ice Blended Fresh Coconut (Rm 16)

We started off with their signature Chicken Satay. It was beautifully marinated with a strong Lemongrass aroma, extra dip was not necessary. The meat was tender with a generous bite... probably some of the best Satay we've had in recent days. After a promising start, we were served with the Biryani Rice and was told that we can have the Rice refilled without any extra charges (excluding side dishes). The Rice was nicely cooked- fluffy with spot-on seasoning. It was good on its own. But the accompanying sides were not too shabby, we like the crunchy-acidic Acar. The whole concoction was not too monotonous, even the Curries. We've also had the Beef Rendang and their signature Fried Chicken. Both were good but the latter one was slightly too greasy to our liking. The Chicken was expertly cooked with a juicy-tender inside while having extra crispy bites on the outside. The whole Chicken Thigh was creatively served with creamy mashed Potato and Curry (the mashed Potato-Curry combo worked magically). We enjoy the Beef Rendang for its in-depth flavors and generous cuts of the tender meat. We ended the meat with their signature Ice Blended Fresh Coconut with a scoop of Coconut Ice Cream.
