Buffroom @ Lebuh Aceh, Georgetown, Penang.

A cafe during day time and bar in the evenings, Buffroom is one of the latest additions to the Georgetown heritage area. It occupies a large space at Lebuh Aceh with a car park at Lorong Lumut (RM10 per entry). The place is very spacious with minimalist-industrial vibe; the menu is a little limited for now- only Pasta and Tacos. The rest of the items will be added soon (like All Day Breakfast and Burgers); the price points are on the higher side- expect to pay around RM40 for a Pasta dish. The seats (only stools, no proper chairs) are less-comfortable and more suitable for casual meet ups over drinks. We were there on Christmas Day and the place was filled with Cigarette odor (must be from the Christmas Eve party happened on the night before), it was quite an unpleasant experience.

Unagi Tamago Taco (Rm 28)

We started off with the Unagi Tamago Taco which has some quintessential Taco elements in it (Tomatoes, Lettuce, Mayonnaise) and topped with a generous amount of Bonito flakes. The flavor-combo worked and we thought it was a nice twist to the usual American Taco. Squid Ink Sambal Petai Ikan Bilis was a misnomer, it was not really the Malaysian "Sambal" but more to Chili flakes in Chili Oil, so it has that smoky hue instead of the sweet Sambal sauce. Not too shabby but I would personally prefer Petai to go with the Malaysian Sambal instead. The Seafood Tobiko Miso Pasta is a safe bet. It was creamy with a hint of Miso-sweetness, the Spaghetti was nicely cooked to al-dente. Quite a good Pasta but I am not sure if I am willing to fork out RM38+ for this dish again.
