Thai Tut Tut @ Southbay Plaza, Batu Maung, Penang.

Thai Tut Tut at Southbay Plaza, Batu Maung has been around for a few good years. The place has been dishing out authentic yet wallet-friendly Thai delights since its opening. It is a popular spot for those who work/live in the area for a quick Thai fix. The menu is fairly big, featuring many Thai dishes familiar to Penangites. There are some hits and misses but the price points are very affordable, especially it is a proper, air-conditioned Thai restaurant.

Pad Thai (Rm 12)

Tom Yum Seafood (Rm 20/ small)

Som Tum (Rm 12)

Tub Tim Krob (Rm 6)

Thai Tut Tut's Som Tum was well-seasoned, though not as spicy as we would have hoped, the other elements were nicely done. The Tom Yum Seafood possessed an indelible sweetness but it was the type of sweetness that most Malaysians are able to accept. In fact, it carried a balanced medley of sweet and sour notes, perfect to spoon over rice. We were also delighted to find that there were generous amount of Seafood in the Tom Yum, despite for a mere Rm 20. The Pad Thai was a disappointment though. The portion was huge but we did not like the overly Tomatoey flavor of the Pad Thai. Fortunately, the Tub Tim Krob was very good. They were very generous with the red rubies, they were beautifully done with a sleek Thai Palm Sugar aroma and rich Coconut Milk... only for Rm 6.
