There is no shortage of good Chicken Rice in the Jelutong neighborhood but this particular one- Sunbright Roast Chicken Rice 日光烧腊鸡饭 has constantly been attracting regular patrons back for their roast goodies. Previously located near Perak Road wet market, Sunbright has since relocated to this location, right next to Sunshine Jelutong. The signature sauce (with Oyster Sauce) and home-made Chili sauce contribute to the winning factor (also being wallet-friendly). The place is often at its busiest at noon or lunch hours, so if you wish to have more meat variety, make sure you arrive early.
Just like any other Chicken Rice places, Sunbright's menu is pretty straightforward. We had the mix version- Roast Chicken, Boiled Chicken and Char siew... served over their secret sauce. Nothing overly exciting about the meat (but it did not disappoint) but the sauce was addictive and perfectly spooned over rice. We recommend adding their home-made Chili sauce. We were told by the proprietor that no vinegar is used in the making, purely Calamansi and hence, the distinctive citrusy zing. A good and satisfying meal here typically costs lesser than Rm10 per pax. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, do give it a try.
