Firewood Restaurant @ Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, Georgetown, Penang.

More than just typical barbecue, Firewood Restaurant in Georgetown is taking the traditional wood-fire cooking to the next level. The restaurant specializes in premium quality steaks, cooked over coal fire. Far from being a steakhouse, Firewood offers a menu with a well-diversified choices... from imported premium quality meats to comfort sharing food like Salad, Pasta, Burgers and Desserts etc. It has a big beverage menu too- from different labels of Wines, Cocktails to non-alcoholic options. The restaurant takes their food seriously, with an aim to impart coal-smokiness to all of their dishes. In order to achieve this, Firewood has their own recipe in mixing the coals... from traditional Charcoal to Binchotan, constantly experimenting and exploring multitude ways to manipulate the fire and perfecting the cooking. Firewood is a Pork-Free and Kids-friendly casual restaurant; early reservation is recommended to avoid disappointment, especially for bigger groups.

Firewood offers a great variety of Starters suitable for sharing. Assuage the guilt by introducing more plants to your meal by having  the Charcoal Burnt Caesar and Hay Smoked Seasonal Mushroom; the former one has a delightful smoky hue with light drizzles of dressing while the latter option offers a bold earthy Mushroom bite. As for those who prefer Soup as their starter, try the Firewood Chitose Tomato Soup; the outstanding Tomatoey flavor with a creamy texture will leave you wanting for more. If you are up for something new and playful, go for the Charred White Sweet Corn. The White Sweet Corn is beautifully charred and served with creamy, acidic Bearnaise sauce and chocolate cookie crumble. The flavor combo is a little exquisite but it works.

Outstanding is the Beef selection at Firewood, whether its a thick slab of Steak or beautifully aged ones, any meat lovers will find their preferred cuts here... and of course, best to be enjoyed with a glass of Red. The prices vary, depending on the cuts and weights. Each serving of the Red Meat can be complemented by sides like Truffled Mashed Potatoes, Cherry Vine Tomatoes, Seasonal Greens etc. Another highlight would be their Aged Duck Breast- beautifully cooked crispy skin with juicy, succulent meat. Diners can also end the meal with a booze or some sweet treat. Recommend ending the meal with their Lime Tart with Charred Pineapple, a tangy-sweet concoction full with tropical flavors.
