The Thai Cafe and Restaurant at Sri Bahari Road is a new place where you get to enjoy good Thai food in a comfortable cafe setting. Unlike any regular Thai restaurant, this new kid on the block offers a slightly different menu as compared to its competitors. The menu features mostly rice sets with a small variety of appetizers or sides; making it hard for bigger group of diners to share the food (good for smaller groups). The Thai has the standard cafe setting, fully air-conditioned and certainly comfortable. A nice place in town to have a quick, budget Thai fix.

We came in a relatively large group, it was quite a let down to learn that we could not order dishes and share amongst ourselves just like any other Thai restaurants. Some of the items we managed to share were the Som Tum/ Thai Green Papaya Salad, Kerabu Glass Noodles and Crispy Herb Chicken. The Som Tum was okay, though we would prefer it to be slightly spicier; the crunchiness and the flavors did meet our expectations. Same for the case of Kerabu Glass Noodles. The Crispy Herb Chicken on the other hand, was disappointing. It was a tad dry to our liking and it was over seasoned. The rest of the dishes were alright, the Tom Yum Seafood left us with a deep impression. It ticked all the columns- spicy, sour, savory with a sleek sweetness. It spooned over rice very well. We also found ourselves enjoying the Thai Laksa a lot, lusciously creamy with Basil aroma; even better if they can include more Chicken for a meatier bite. Sad to say, no desserts were sighted during my visit.
