JINJU Korean Dining and Bar @ Victoria Street, Georgetown, Penang.

The Korean wave continues in Penang with more Korean food joints opening up. JINJU Korean Dining and Bar is one of the latest additions, the Korean restaurant is taking Penang by storm, attracting a big young crowd to visit the place. Its social media presence is equally strong, thanks to its aesthetically pleasing food presentation. JINJU offers a big Korean menu- from barbecue to seafood pot, noodles or even stew but do expect to pay a little more here. For those who prefer alcohols to go with their Korean dishes, JINJU has a fair selection as well.

Haemul Junggul "The Poseidon" (Rm 160)

Mul Naengmyeon (Rm 28)

Jjajangmyeon (Rm 28)

There were some hits and misses on the dishes we had. The Haemul Junggul definitely caught us by surprise with the bountiful supply of fresh Seafood like Oysters, Octopus, Clams, Scallops, Prawns etc. The broth was sweet and delicately balanced at first, but it got so salty halfway and we struggled to finish the pot. The seafood was fresh, particularly the Oysters and Scallops- plump, juicy and sweet. The Mul Naengmyeon was lacking the X factor, probably the texture of the noodles and the addition of vinegar. Something was missing somewhere, it was okay for sharing but it did not impress us a lot. The Jjajangmyeon was slightly better, we thought the sauce was nicely done with good consistency and flavor but the texture of the noodles can be chewier. Also, it was a let down to see the yellow Pickled Radish was missing.
