For a budget-friendly, classic Chinese meal in the quiet town of Kulim, make your way to Yu Xiang Restaurant 宇香海鲜楼, one of the few air-conditioned Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. The brand is not the longest-standing but has surely garnered an appreciate following. But the reasons are simple- comfortable dining space, wallet-friendly price tags and generous serving portions. The place is also a casual dining place for those staying in the vicinity... not exactly a place for occasion. The big Chinese menu is able to accommodate diners of all age-range.

We were so excited to see Teo Chew Mee Tiao on the menu, the medium portion served the 3 of us well. We love the flavors and the various toppings but we would prefer the texture to be chewier and the whole dish to be less-wet. The texture turned out to be a little soggier than what we would have hoped. Chinese Yellow Wine Chicken was comforting- lightly seasoned with mellow Yellow Wine aroma, the Chicken was nicely cooked and it was certainly a nice addition to the spread. But the winner of the day was the Stir Fried Chinese Kai Lan... expertly cooked with an addictive crunch and beautifully seasoned. The Tom Yum Seafood was mediocre though. For a meal with 4 dishes, the damage was a little less than Rm 60 (for 3 pax).
