Flagship by Navy @ Jalan Hamilton, Jelutong, Penang.

Occupying a space in the newly revamped place right next to Heng Hee High School, Flagship by Navy has received a lot of attention since its opening. The reasons are simple: chic interior with easy-access, free parking. While there are a few more empty spaces in the building, Flagship by Navy occupies the corner lot of the place. Step in the place and you will feel the strong industrial vibe; the menu is quite small (only Pasta dishes for main) with a small selection of desserts and pastries at the order counter. The bar on the other hand, only operates on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays... in the evenings. The place is especially busy on weekends so if you are planning to visit in a big group, do plan ahead. Quite a comfortable space for catch ups over light meals but the price tags can be quite hefty.

Pesto Rocco- Chicken (Rm 32)

Aglio Olio- King Prawns (Rm 40)

Aglio Olio- Seasonal Vegetables (Rm 28)

Carbonara- Beef Streaky (Rm 34)

Truffle Fries (Rm 20)

Jin Gan Pu Er (Rm 18)

There were some hits and misses for the Pasta dishes. Starting with the Pesto Rocco- Chicken, quite a misnomer. With the name Pesto, we were expecting a green, Basil-based sauce but what we have gotten was a Tomato-based version. The sauce was nicely balanced with sweet and sour notes, the Fettuccine was also beautifully cooked with al-dente texture. Not bad for the dish itself but not something we wanted. We also had 2 versions of Aglio Olio- a vegetarian version and another one with King Prawns. To our surprise, the vegetarian version tasted way better, the Pasta was better seasoned as compared to the other version... which was flat and monotonous. The texture was a little odd though, somewhere between overcooked and al-dente. My partner in crime described it as expensive Mee Goreng Udang. Something creamier, we had the Carbonara- Beef Streaky which we thought it was quite good. It was not too diluted, the creaminess was spot on. The Beef Streaky however, was a tad salty on its own. With drinks, the total damage for this meal was almost RM220; which we did not quite see the value there (except for the environment).
