Higher Ground @ Leith Street, 10200, Georgetown, Penang.

Higher Ground is the latest spot for cafe go-ers to check out in the heart of Georgetown. The cafe took over the prominent spot at Leith Street, occupying a wide space previously occupied by Georgetown Wines. The place had undergone some makeover and has a rustic, modern-industrial decor with a relaxing vibe. For the soft opening month, Higher Ground only offers dessert and beverage menu with plans to offer mains in coming months. Save for the slightly steeper price, the place is pretty comfortable and especially suitable for casual catch ups over drinks.

Croffle with Ice Cream (Rm 18)

Classic Tiramisu (Rm 18)

California Carrot Walnut (Rm 17)

Houjicha (Rm 16/ cold) and Chocolate (Rm 17/ cold)

Rose Latte (Rm 16/ cold) and Yuzu Mint (Rm 15)

There were not much choices on our visit and probably due to new opening jitters, their Ice Cream on the Croffle was in semi-melted state. While we enjoyed the Croffle, we thought the Ice Cream was a nuisance as by the time we finished with the photography, it was in liquid form. Also, we thought the combo was a little overly sweet to our liking. The Classic Tiramisu was fine but the much-desired alcohol aroma was missing but judging on the texture and sweetness alone, it was perfectly fine. The California Carrot Walnut did not leave us with a deep impression... just an average piece of Cake but it definitely did not disappoint, just that it was not bold enough for us to remember.
