Ah Choon Chicken Rice 阿春金牌烧鸡 @ Bishop Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Old Penang brand but expanding its business to a new location, Ah Choon Chicken Rice 阿春金牌烧鸡 has presence in Bukit Mertajam for more than a decade and has recently expanded its business operations to central business district of Georgetown... opening a branch at Bishop Street, few doors away from Public Bank Penang main branch. The expansion does not deter Ah Choon from offering its best to diners; in fact, there are more new additions to the menu. Expect the classics to be on the menu, along with some new additions such as Gan Lou Noodles, Braised Pork Rice and Nasi Lemak. The menu is suitable for an inexpensive quick meal fix over a variety of familiar, delicious Chinese delights in a comfortable setting.

Gan Lau Noodles with BBQ Pork (Rm 7.50)

Plain Noodles (Rm 4)

Mixed Platter (Rm 20/ large)

Braised Egg (Rm 1.20 each)

We love both the texture of the noodles and the flavor of the meat from Gan Lau Noodles with BBQ Pork; the BBQ Pork or Char Siew had the perfect pockets of fats to meat with sweet-savory coating. The dressing for the noodles was a little under-seasoned but when enjoyed with their home-made Chili sauce, we thought it was perfectly balanced out. The Chicken was fine... nothing particularly outstanding but definitely did not disappoint. A contenting meal to share.
