Cheang Kee 蒋记 @ Tanjung Bungah, Penang.

Previously located at Chulia Street, Cheang Kee has relocated to a new location nearer to the waters at Tanjung Bungah. The location is a little quite hidden... deep inside the residential area of Tanjung Bungah. Visitors can find the place via the junction adjacent to the Tanjung Bungah market and the entrance to the restaurant can be found at the far end of a no-through road. Cheang Kee now occupies a bigger beach-side space with slightly bigger menu than before. The restaurant now offers Steamboat options with some Western-styled grills apart from the usual Chinese menu. Price range remains the same and the consistency in terms of quality; the place has a better dining atmosphere than before (especially for those who prefer a more outdoorsy or closer-to-nature ambiance). It is best to reserve your table as the place has limited seating available and it gets very busy during weekends.

Seafood Porridge (Rm 21.90)

Seafood Fried Vermicelli Noodles (Rm 21.90)

Claypot Tofu with Assorted Vegetables (Rm 21.90)

BBQ Boneless Chicken Thigh (Rm 12.90)

Iced Rose Pu Erh (Rm 7.90 each)

We really enjoyed the Seafood Porridge, the texture was amazing and there was a deep flavor in the Porridge... amazingly, we did not discover bad thirst after the meal. They were quite generous with the Seafood as well, we had some Fish, few big Prawns and Flower Clams in the Porridge serving. Our only complain... the Porridge got cold too fast. Another main dish- Seafood Fried Vermicelli Noodles, was equally good. The same amount of Seafood was given but the serving portion for the Vermicelli Noodles was bigger than the Porridge. The seasoning however, was on the heavier side... but it was overall, still pretty good. The rest of the dishes did not disappoint and for the 2 of us, the damage came up a little more than Rm100... not exactly very cheap but we were glad that we left the place with a satisfied tummy.
