French cuisine often gives the impression that one needs to pay a hefty price but with more affordable options coming up in Penang, diners get to indulge in classic French delights that are friendlier to the wallet. Moment French Bistro & Cafe is one of the latest French bistros in town that offer a French menu... though not extensive, it offers some French classics at fairly affordable price tags. Apart from the main menu, the bistro has good dessert options as well.

Basque Chicken with Risotto (Rm 38)
Luck was on our side when we were told that the Salmon Wellington, a special dish was on offer during our visit. The dish was expertly crafted- buttery flaky pastry on the outside with soft juicy Salmon inside, served with sweet Mustard sauce as well as a side of greens. The dish was served piping hot and the pastry just fall apart at the nudge of the fork, it was that crispy and needless to say, addictive. The Basque Chicken with Risotto was alright- the Chicken Stew was nicely cooked with fork-tender texture but the Risotto was overly mushy to our liking. We would prefer it to have a slight al-dente bite. Fortunately, the tomatoey cuts through the creaminess of the dish and overall, we'd say we enjoyed it quite a bit.
