MamaBang Cafe @ Carnavon Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Not visible from the main road, MamaBang Cafe is accessible from a small entrance to the Teoh Kongsi from Carnavon Street. The new restaurant lures in a great crowd especially on weekends... the place was thronged with curious eaters on its first opening weeks. The food offering is simple but friendly to all age-range; featuring many locals' favorites and familiar Malaysian delights. The place offers comfortable seating in a modern setting but the price points are very affordable, definitely a place worth checking out in town... for its cozy dining space and classic but solid Malaysian menu.

Fried Wan Ton Mee (Rm 10.50 with a drink)

Hokkien Mee (Rm 10.50 with a drink)

Kaya Butter Toast (Rm 3.90)

Half Boiled Eggs (Rm 2.50)

MamaBang's Penang Hokkien Mee hit the spot right with all the boxes ticked- bold Prawn flavors with delicious broth that carried a sleek sweetness. While the Hokkien Mee did not disappoint, their Fried Wan Ton Mee appealed to us better. Not only that the noodle dish carried strong Wok Hei but the texture of noodles remained al-dente. Everything was expertly seasoned and we thought that was a brilliant dish. The Kaya Butter Toast was nothing out of the ordinary though.
