Fatkidz Pattiserie is probably one of the most hidden patisseries in Penang- tucked away from the bustling Dato Keramat, Fatkidz Pattiserie is well-hidden in one of the units at Medan Ria, a medium-low cost apartment behind Starview Chinese Restaurant. There are 2 units of dedicated parking lots right in front of the shop, so you will need to drive in to the compound (of Medan Ria). Once you have entered Medan Ria, Fatkidz Pattiserie can be seen on your right. From outside, it does not paint a picture on what the place could possibly offer but once you stepped in, you will be welcomed by a range of attractively-looking pastries and desserts. Seating space is rather limited and may not be too accommodating for larger groups. Nevertheless, a spot worth dropping by especially if you do love a piece of delicious cake or some buttery pastries.

Though Fatkidz Pattiserie does not serve any mains, there are some savory nibbles available. The Mixed Mushroom Toast is one of them. Our order was heated up before serving to us, it has a generous amount of Mushrooms (mainly Eryngii) served on a creamy base sauce and topped with sprinkles of Cheese. The base was a sourdough bread. As simple as it sounds, the flavor combo was good. The texture of the Mushrooms was expertly control and the seasoning was spot on, a dish that we thoroughly enjoyed. Moving on the sweets, we were introduced to their Cherry and Yogurt Tart- creamy Yogurt based concoction on top of a layer of Sponge and Almond-like Tart base. The sweetness was brilliantly controlled but the Yogurt element was not bold enough (though discernible). We also tried their Lotus Cream Cheese Cookie, which appeared to be a tad too sweet to our liking. We washed them down with a glass of refreshing Kombucha.
