The Busy Monet @ Vantage Point, Jelutong, Penang.

Tucked away in a quiet top-floor unit of a commercial lot along Perak Road (Vantage Point Jelutong), The Busy Monet has been there for few weeks but many have not noticed it due to its rather obscure location. Found at the corner lot of Vantage Point Jelutong, one will need to traipse your way up to the 3rd floor to find the cafe... which has a pleasant, modern forest interior decor- with hanging trees adorning the walls and greens filling up the space. There's also a huge balcony with big piece of glass... allowing natural sunlight to flood in; quite a picturesque place to dine in. The tables however, are in odd shapes... making the place less-accommodating for larger groups. On the menu, it has quite a fair bit of Western choices- from brunch items to mains like Spaghetti or grills. Both brunch and dinner menus are slightly different but one thing for sure, the prices are very reasonable.

Meringue Croissant (Rm 12.90)

Chicken Breast on Toast (Rm 14.90)

Salted Egg Chicken Spaghetti (Rm 18.90)

We ordered 2 items from the brunch menu- Chicken Breast on Toast and Salted Egg Chicken Spaghetti. The former one was pan fried Chicken Breast served atop of Toast and mashed Potatoes, fresh greens in a touch of Pesto sauce. The flavor combo was as straight-forward as it can be but what we did not like was the Toast... which became too soggy as a result of soaking it together with the mashed Potatoes. Other than that, we thought it was quite a contenting yet, healthy dish. Salted Egg Chicken Spaghetti was a little weird... the flavor combo just did not feel right. The salty egg essence was there but we did not like how it paired with Spaghetti. The Chicken was okay though. For dessert, we had an unusual combo of Croissant and Meringue. Kaya-filled Croissant spread with a dollop of Meringue frosting... torched to give it an alluring color. Pretty straight-forward taste but a tad too sweet for us.
