REVE Kitchen & Dessert Bar @ King Street, Georgetown, Penang.

** REVE has since ceased its business operations **

Decked out in a garden-like setting, the newly opened REVE Kitchen and Dessert Bar is a profusion of greenery and calm. The cafe uses white color as the theme... with all tables and chairs are in white hues while the colorful plants make up the space, turning it into a lovely, picturesque space. The menu on the other hand, is a little weak. It has quite limited choices of mains with only a handful of desserts. Different menu will be rolled out for both lunch and dinner sessions. The serving portion is fairly small while the price points are on the higher side. Worth trying but more for novelty experience.

Nyonya Fish Rice Set (Rm 25)

Nyonya Chicken Rice Set (Rm 23)

Bacon Mushroom Carbonara (Rm 24)

Durian Souffle (Rm 28)

Anggukueh Bomb Alaska (Rm 28)

Start off with the mains, both Nyonya Fish and Chicken Rice Set were more or less the same... with the same side dish (Winged Beans) and Chili paste... except swapping Chicken for Fish of course. The Chicken and Fish were as straight-forward as you can see but the Chili paste was not too shabby... similar to those slightly sweet Ikan Bakar Chili paste, which can go very well with the rice. The Carbonara was less-impressive though... the seasoning was weak and had to rely heavily on the Bacon bits. The cream sauce was a little watery and did not quite cling to the Linguine. Disappointed by the mains, we actually thought the desserts fared way better than the mains. The Durian Souffle took almost 40 minutes to serve (despite telling them they can serve before meal if they could) and comes with a scoop of Soursop Sorbet. The Durian Souffle was nicely done... perfectly puff and light but not overly sweetened. The Sorbet was refreshing and offered a better dimension to the sweet treat. Anggukueh Bomb Alaska was not too shabby either... it was a Mochi-concept dessert with Ice Cream in it. The alcohol had not done much in its aid but the overall combo was quite interesting... but probably a little overpriced for that portion.

Mushroom Cappuccino (Rm 12) and Long Black (Rm 9)
